Having a mini with run-flats doesn't make sense to me either. I'm going to yank mine out. Less weight more storeage. If I replace my Pirellis, when they wear out, with non-run flat tires then I'll put it back.

Probably due to the negative camber settings in the SRT8......

I would bet that it will also happen with Michelins and Contis....

If you track it once in a while (full course, not 1/4 mile) you will use the outside thread of the tires and thus balance them......

Really? I thought Nittos were more track oriented tires, but I may be wrong...... anyway, that is good to know.....

Re: SRT8 and Run Flat Tires

After singing the praises of run flats earlier in this thread, my family and I just suffered through the ultimate "stranded motorist" incident. While driving home from Nova Scotia to PA, we were on the TransCanada Highway in New Brunswick when the Jeep struck a gigantic pothole and shredded the left rear Goodyear. Even though part of the tread came off, the sidewalls were intact and we were able to limp into the town of Moncton. By this time it was 2:00am on Sunday morning and everything was closed. We stopped at the local hotel and they helped us call every "24 hour road service" in the phone book. Eventually one did turn up, but he couldn't locate a tire close to the correct size at that time of Sunday morning. Fortunately the hotel had one room available, so we all crashed until the next morning when the tire guy was able to find two used 295 40R 20's for the rear wheels. We were back on the road by noon on Sunday, which was a 12 hour delay including an unplanned hotel stop. The tire guy only charged me $185 for two service calls, two good but used tires, mounting and balancing...all on a Sunday morning when no one else would even turn up. If you ever have a road service problem near Moncton NB, call Eddy at Steve's Tire, 506-859-9688.

Re: SRT8 and Run Flat Tires

Glad things worked out for you, but your issue does show another problem. With no spare to throw on, if the run flats go poof, it could be difficult to find a tire in stock right away to fit the need until you get to your final destination.

Bingo. And the WK2SRT has hard-to-find sizes. That's why I always want a spare.
