Re: SRT8 IN the SNOW ?

I live in Colorado and took my old SRT8 out once and then bought a truck for snow days as it didn't do too well. I know other's had good luck in snow but for where I was going (mountains) I didn't feel comfortable in deep snow. I would think with the higher ride height and snow setting the WK2 will do pretty good.

Re: SRT8 IN the SNOW ?

Sugarballs, while I have not owned an JGC SRT8 I have driven high HP and torque RWD cars in the winter and live in the Northeast. With the proper snow tires I had no problems getting around. For the WK2 SRT8 it has a snow setting plus I would swap the stock tires and rims for a winter setup. The problem might be finding a setup that will clear the brakes. Tire Rack should have a recommendation.

Regards,
NHman

Re: SRT8 IN the SNOW ?

I live north of Philly and thought the stock setup for the WK1 SRT worked fine for our winters. At the heioght of any major nor'easter, no one should be on the road anyway. With the way the dots plow here in the NE, any AWD/4WD vehicle should do fine.

I live in MA and drove through all of the storms with stock tires in 2009/2010 winter and didn't have one problem. It was better than most as long as you weren't oblivious about driving in the snow.
I did switch to Blizzaks DM-V1s for this last CRAZY winter and it was an absolute tank in the snow. All of those 12" storms on Wednesdays and had no issues to and from work. Plus the softer non runflats were much easier to deal with the potholes.

The WK2s suspension set up and slightly more ground clearance should help the situation. I wouldn't be concerned at all using this all winter on all season tires.

+1 to winter rubber, my 2011 WK2 Oland handles high alpine subzero deep snow conditions like a champ with Firestone Destination AT's. The Blizzaks now come in a 20" size as well.

Presuming the right pricing on a 2012 SRT8, this bad boy would go snowmobiling and get me ahead of the slower rigs on the race to the first chair on powder days.

Re: SRT8 IN the SNOW ?

The stock goodyears performed quite well in the snow I must say. All you have to do is keep your foot out of it and you will be fine.

Now I have a set of Toyo Proxes ST2's on the Jeep. I'm curious to see how they perform this winter!
