Re: Started the RIPP supercharger install

Some more updates for everyone. Kit is completely installed and truck is all back together. I'd say total install time was 7-8 hours give or take and may have been done a little faster but I am extremely meticulous so take my good old time making sure everything is done right. Whole job was done in my garage..no lift..just a floor jack and a pair of jack stands. You will want to remove the front wheels because you have to drill out 4 plastic rivets that hold the fender liner to the front bumper on each side. This step is not listed in the printed instructions, but will be updated. You will then also need to purchase 8 push clips total to reinstall the fender liner later. If you have ever done a bwoody install ..you will be familiar with the plastic rivets I am talking about. Other than that, your typical tools, metric socket set, pliers, pry bar, screwdrivers, a drill, etc. the only tool I needed to purchase was a 12mm Allen head socket to tighten the temporary crank bolt used for pinning the crank. I also used a unibit to drill a hole in the pipe right after the throttle body to reinstall the factory IAT sensor as there was no hole drilled there for it. Instructions that came with the kit were excellent is some areas and a little too vague in others. I made some notes on my copy and am going to forward them to Ross at RIPP to help any future installers. Everything went together smoothly but I am having an index issue with the pulley on the supercharger. It seems to be set back to far and is not true enough to to the other pulleys and soon as I start the truck it shreds the serpentine belt...put the factory belt back on and bypass the supercharger pulley and two idlers and everything is fine. Already spoke to RIPP and we will have the problem addressed in the next few days. Unfortunately no performance updates as of yet until the pulley issue is solved but even still...it's great to look at for now. And by the way even after everyone's critiques on how the emblems looked..I put them on anyway and think they look awesome with the black matching the other emblems and the red matching the calipers. To each his own, but is like the look and don't care if somebody knows what's under the hood..something to be proud of not hide. Also there was a lot of talk about power coating the intercooler to make it black and hide it..one it will retain more heat if painted or powder coated and two..you be the judge but with blacked out grill rings I think it looks pretty mean behind the grill. Stay tuned...

Still a negative for me on the big silver intercooler look. Other than that, well done.

Oh - it will be me, just not quite yet. I am anxiously awaiting feedback from owners though. Ripp has a great reputation, but I can't wait to see what the reaction is
