Re: steering wheel vibration - TSB 6-11-14

Well no news from the dealer but I have had the shimmy from 60-75 since new tires/wheels were installed. I went back to Discount Tire today to have them fix a TPMS issue and explained I had wheel shimmy. Their (allegedly) best employee rebalanced all 4 rims and individually reprogramming the machine each time. He said that because my front and rear wheels have different offsets the employees likely used same setting for all 4 throwing them off. I've driven it on the freeway up to 75 and no shimmy.

I'll report back in a few days.

Did they use the Road Force balancer or regular balancer to fix?

Re: steering wheel vibration - TSB 6-11-14

Regular balancer. All he told me is that he was going to used a "different balancing method" to do them. Keep in mind this is the 3rd time Discount has balanced them. First he did the regular method (which is what I think they did the 2 previous times), but he wasn't satisfied with the results. Then he did the new method.

What I noticed:
First Method - roll wheels and then put on weights. Finished
"different" method - roll wheels - place weights - roll wheels - place weights - roll wheels - place weights etc. until finished

These are aftermarket wheels BTW 22". Not OEM

My dealer (and the Chrysler enhanced customer program) told me it was the road force balancer

Re: steering wheel vibration - TSB 6-11-14

Did anyone else have any issues getting the dealer to replace the wheel bearing assembly?

I told my dealer about the tsb, and talked to Chrysler canada. And supposedly my 2014 isn't in the models listed, so in order to make sure it's required the dealer did everything possible before hand.
Force balanced multiple times.
They put my summer pirelles on, and realigned it. And balanced them again.

It was still happening
They replaced the brake booster.
And since my rotors were worn my dealer said before he will convince Chrysler that the bearings/hubs need replacment that the rotors and pads need to be done.
They were done, and it's still happening.

I have an appointment thursday to get them done. I hope it works, if it doesn't I'll start thinking it was in an accident that wasn't reported. If it isn't that what the heck else could it be?!

Keep us posted, I still experience the vibration. Better with a good balance but never completely eliminated.
