Thats about it unless you start looking at the Cadillac, Lincoln, etc etc
I just saw a brand new Lincoln SUV in black driving around...looked really nice. Lincoln just got the highest rating for reliability. Jeep was last. I'm still getting an Overland though.

Re: SUV Alternatives to the WK2 SRT8 Jeep?

The only alternatives that I would be interested in would be an Overland 5.7 or a Range Rover Sport.

There is something I really liked about my Range Rover when I had it and the Overland 5.7 should have plenty of power for most people.

Jeep wasn't last on what i saw. Jeep was around 9 or 10. Rover was last. Plus it was for 2009 model year.

Re: SUV Alternatives to the WK2 SRT8 Jeep?

Ummmm there are not equal alternatives. There are TONS of alternatives but nothing that will give you the same bang for your buck, thats a fact.

RR/ Porsche/BMW/MB are all going to be USED with prob 30k+ miles on them and missing some of the features in the new Jeep and even THEN you'd be hard pressed to find one for $60k!

Again in my mind you pay another 20-30% more just for name that goes with those.

Dodge Durango R/T

Ride is sweet for a larger SUV
Has 3rd row
Lowered stance (cmpared to regular Durango)
Sport Suspension
Sport exhaust

Re: SUV Alternatives to the WK2 SRT8 Jeep?

Around here the closest competitor is the 2011 mercedes ml63 amg, some dealers have big discounts on the last few we're talking 85k full equip. vs. 65k for the new wk2 srt8.they're both large displacement and naturally aspirated.Underpinnings are the same but fit and finish on the mercedes are better. What chrysler shoulda done is come out with a bang 392 supercharged apache kit with the 8 or 9 speed auto right from the start, then we wouldn't be having any thoughts so far as alternatives.Just my two cents.

My girl and I are really diggin that R/T!!!! Very sweet looking lines on them.

As far as price Vs performance, bang for your buck...... nothing can touch WK2 SRT8. Wait 3 years when you can bolt on a blower or turbo, Porsche what, X5M..... really? Nothing compares to the jeep in IT's OWN pricepoint.

Re: SUV Alternatives to the WK2 SRT8 Jeep?

Funny how you guys are "trying" to find an alternative to the JGC SRT8, yet you keep coming back to the same conclusion.....The SRT8 is still excellent bang for your buck, even if the price is a ripoff in your opinions.
Anyone who thinks a 4+yo Porsche is competition for a new SRT8 needs their head read.
I Australia the Turbo Cayenne is US$230,000 and the Jeep is rumoured to be around the $90,000. So even with our ripoff pricing we cop down here, it is still great value. Nothing comes close in value or performance.

What all the complainers should do is wait until they are in the dealers and then drive one. I am sure many serious buyers will purchase it.

Wrong. Porsche Cayenne Turbo. 2011 was the complete redesign and it's nice. Plus it has quadra lift, but it doesn't have that lame front lower air dam.

Don't get me wrong, that would be my first choice.....but not at double the cost of the SRT8
