For us in OZ, it's nothing more then a big screen, the only apps we have is the SRT apps, when their running that is. We have pretty much been dudded from the features that makes the system great.

Re: Sydney DCR Sandwich!

Quick Review - after doing a 700K round trip (SYD-CBR-SYD):

I love it!

Boy to they pack some technology into this beast! I've already nicknamed it "Wife V2" as it mimics what my wife's habits:
- warns me of cars in the blind spot
- the adaptive cruise control will break when approaching slower cars (my wife would pump an invisible brake on her side in previous cars and the longest setting is about the same as my wife's preference).
- GPS warns when over the speed limit (I set it to 10KM over)
- Windscreen Wipers turned on and off at the same desired rate as my wife

We got used to the ride on the 3 Season Run Flats but I will be buying different rubber when these ones go as they are way to firm on poor road surfaces. Any Recommendations?

Launch control was available (I had read it was only after 700KM) but have not found a suitable place to do a full run.

Fuel consumption (98 RON) was excellent on the Freeway running around 9.5l/100KM! I've now got the Diablo so will push a 95RON tune and see how that goes in Jan.

My wife thinks it sounds like a Water Ski Boat under throttle.

The kids think my wife's Toyota Rukus is "cooler"!

The Tradies we have at our place think it is "epic"!

Couple of additional Q's and Comments
- Anti Collision : I may be too chicken to test this out but I've not seen it kick in yet so I don't know how this works?!?!
- Some things seems to reset, like I had to put up the Vol for the GPS voice then after a couple of Starts/Stops it have gone back to it's old setting (lost my vol setting). Anyone else seen this?
- I really need to get the front windows tinted but what about the Pana Roof. It did not seem to have any UV Protection it in. Has anyone else had it tinted?
- I did not get any live traffic warnings from the GPS, does this work in OZ (it does on the Wife's Toyota Rukus!)

Here is another pic...

We get active brake alert/crash mitigation, but NOT active stop. The car will only alert you that you need to brake (it will also activate ABS so you feel the brakes start to work)

Dunno about volume resets, don't use nav all that much.

Common consensus seems to be that you shouldn't tint the roof. Something about heat dissipation and the possibility of a shattered pano.

We don't get live traffic updates

Odd as the setup sees what FM stations are broadcasting this info in each region and I have it set on Auto.

I'm pretty happy with it - I wanted Black but it was "Take the one on the Ship or wait months"..... a bird in the hand and all that!

Re: Sydney DCR Sandwich!

I had the active brake activate on me twice. Once when I was doing 80 and the carsin front were almost at a stop, as I started to change lanes to avoid them the brake alert came on and the ABS kicked in. The other time I was doing about 50 and merging into a right turn lane, the cars in the straight ahead lanes were stopped, I guess one of the sensors thought I wasn't going to miss them?

Re: Sydney DCR Sandwich!

So what happens when it kicks in - is it just a light turns on?

Re: Sydney DCR Sandwich!

in the EVIC a large red "BRAKE!" appears along with a audible tone. If you don't start to brake it will start for you, but as I said wont come to a stop.

The new model Overlands have active stop, but apparently they couldn't make it work with our Brembos!

Re: Sydney DCR Sandwich!

Gotcha - found this quote which now makes sense. Glad I did not try it out!

Quote:
Forward collision warning detects when the vehicle may be approaching another vehicle too rapidly and alerts the driver with a unique audio pattern and a flashing light in the gauge cluster. Crash Mitigation pressurizes the braking system so full braking power will be available instantly, when the driver uses the pedal; if the driver does not react, the system also will provide a brake pulse followed by partial braking (the driver is still required to apply the brake to stop the Grand Cherokee, but the pulse may wake dozing drivers even if the alarm fails to do so).
Edit - So this feature is just like what my Wife does now!
