Re: Sydney SRT Club

The OEM pads i heard wear the rotors quickly..
have the rotors got lines in them?
If they do and they a deep enough, its new rotors because you cant machine them either, reason being they where made on the limit... LoL prob on purpose too...

I believed, that the OEM these days made the Rotor as light as possible, in order to save as much weight as possible for Fuel economy and also as a Performace point of view is lightened the rotational weight mass as well. This is similar happening on my Brother's BMW 7 series which have to replace both the Pads and Disc. So the old days of the OEM rotor last 100,000km or more is over.

Re: Sydney SRT Club

My FPV GTE had the same brakes as the SRT. I wore a set of pads and rotors in 16k km. I did not replace the rotors, only the pads, as they were right on min spec, so I left them on and sold the car. The Brembo rotors are very soft and hauling up these heavy cars do wear them fast. I did some Drifting track work in the FPV, but only about 20 laps on 2 meets.

Re: Sydney SRT Club

I think audi, bmw, and mercedes all fall into same category and i bet u pay more . Any high performance car will. I leave 10-15% car value for maintaining the car each year... Include servicing and petrol as an average, this is why you see a few SRTs up for sale around 20-30k kms. Because guys cant afford it

That's prob dealer prices, I got the pads (fronts) changed for $350 incl labor. These were hawk pads.

Rotors I bought online, Centric Premiums as I don't track or race etc, $500 for the front pair so prob another $150-200 to install from the local workshop.

Re: Sydney SRT Club

You can easily get the front rotors and pads done for about $1k. Dealers charge a lot for the same crappy pads and rotors, when you would be far better having it done at an independent mechanic.
I would also question why rotors and pads need to be done on the rear, as you should be getting 70k km out of them.
Getting some DBA rotors and Hawk pads should cost about $800 for the fronts + Labour of 2-3 hrs.
Dealers are for Warranty and oil changes, never big ticket items like tyres or brakes.

Re: Sydney SRT Club

My 2015 JGC SRT has only 6000km on it and I was sick of the brake dust from the standard Brembo pads so I have swapped them for the following read below.

Yes these performance brake sets will wear out faster than anything you have had before (if you've never had a high performance vehicle it will be a shock to experience the cost of replacement brake components), however you will lose your false teeth if you have your mouth open when you jump on them when avoiding a potential crash they just are that good, they bite very well and the bi-product is brake pad and Rotor wear at a high rate.

Guys here is what I ordered and will fit myself and here's what they will look like https://www.r1concepts.com/detail/pr...Cherokee/SRT:/

R1 Concepts Quote was...........................btw 3 days to get here great service.
Kevin Chavez Kevin@r1concepts.com was the person I dealt with and will do business again and again.

F/R Premier Rotors (Any Drilling Pattern)

F/R Hawk Ceramic Pads

Shipping to Australia was an $348 (package weighed 31Kg 62lbs) and was included in the price.

Total $1128US or About $1470 Australian + 255.05 Australian Import tax $1750.00AUD or so all up.

Attached is the .pdf of the specs for brakes for the 2014 JGC
