Re: Sydney SRT Club

It won't be on for a few weeks yet.... the suspense is killing me !!!! They used my car as the template for the design. I only got to hear the recording of the prototype on my car done on their phone/vid...... but I have to say that just from hearing it on the recording...... I haven't been that turned on since I was a teenager !!! lol

Yes.... I'm a bit excited about it and cant wait !

Re: Sydney SRT Club

Hi Ian

I have heard of CRD but never used them, do they actually have an AWD dyno? There is C&V Performance in Taren Point, Autotech Engineering at Granville, Castle Hill Performance in Castle Hill and MRT Performance in Silverwater, all of whom have AWD dyno's (I believe there is a guy in the Newcastle area too but I don't know his name). Given that our SRT's are different in electronics to the '11/'12 models I doubt anyone has done anything useful as yet. Even in the US they are still struggling to get anymore power of them using the Trinity.

In terms of what system to use I personally would not want to reflash the ECU as you say CRD do. The "customisable" tunes are better in that you can very easily revert to stock tune if/when you have to visit a dealer. Reflashing the ECU can only be done by the tuning shop, not the end user (you & me). Trinity has been in use in the States for ages but mostly on the older models. I have been told, and read somewhere, that "Xcal4" will be available very soon (if not already) and that this unit MAY be the key to unlocking the power gains we all want. I recently did a dyno run at Autotech (221.8awkw) and Spiro the owner advised that he would soon have the option to tune our cars. I haven't followed him up with this as yet but I will say he is a master in the Ford Turbo & WRX worlds (hence his AWD Dyno).

As for your mods, the exhaust may help a little as may the intake, maybe 10kw? but the catch can does nothing lol.

Re: Sydney SRT Club

Thanks DCSRT.... I'll be chasing up a few of those names. CV is just around the corner from me.

CRD is and AWD dyno with decent results... they post their maps on FB.

As far as the catch can goes.... it's more of a maintenance thing I wasn't expecting and extra 100kW from it lol.

To be honest, I'm not actually chasing power gains. I just want to make sure my fuel mapping is right for my mods and local fuel/conditions in Australia.

Hopefully I'll be able to learn more about dyno's for our cars before the exhaust arrives.

Cheers.

Re: Sydney SRT Club

Our cars are actually detuned to suit our fuel. On my dyno sheet you can clearly see the dip where the detune comes in. This is what is needed to be "tuned" out for better performance. I don't know yet what, if any, power gains can be had without mods.

EDIT: Dyno sheet for reference;

You can see at 135kph it drops off and then comes back at 150kph

Re: Sydney SRT Club

Regarding Autotech (located in Granville NSW) being able to tune our cars in the future, i will be one of his first customers. Have been taken cars (XR6 Turbos) to Spiro to mod/tune for a few years and from experience he is a perfectionist and will spend as long as needed to set up correctly/safely, No affilliation just a satisfied customer.
Regards,
Geoff

Give him a call Geoff. When I did my dyno run he asked me to call him mid March to see if he had the tuners ready. He was going to only charge me for the unit (XCal4) and do the tunes for free (guinea pig car). I wont be able to do it til late June now so he may do yours first instead.

Rob

Re: Sydney SRT Club

Anyone had any vinyl wrap done on their SRT in Sydney? Pics. Am thinking about doing the chrome trim pieces at least if not the bonnet as well.

Thanks Rob, I shall give Spiro a call and see how we go. I remember when the FG falcon was first released and i bought the FG turbo ute , i was getting offers from a few tuners and manufacturers of intercoolers etc to use my car for a guinea pig for little or no cost. It was very tempting, however i chickened out and waited for everything to be tried and tested.
Cheers, Geoff

Re: Sydney SRT Club

Hey All,

I have been contacting quite a few of the companies that you have kindly recommended and will keep you posted on the outcomes.... Thanks buckets for your help.

My Injen intake arrived today so the ball is rolling. My exhaust should only be a few weeks away (I hope) and the dyno will follow straight after.
