Re: Sydney SRT Club

Anyone done any wrap mods to their beast?

I wouldn't have the cash to have it done by a Pro (costing $2k+ for whole body at some places) but wondering if it's worth buying a $30 reel from ebay and experimenting (might not be the same quality but might be good to pass some time and learn how to) if yes where did you get it done and how much did it cost?

Re: Sydney SRT Club

I bought some 3M 1080 vinyl off ebay and did the centre console of my last car. Easy as. There's knife tape that makes it that much easier. The hard part is not going overboard with it. The bonnet/hood or roof you and a mate can do. Leave the whole body to the pros. A case of brew, a laugh and a joke and I'll give you a hand. LOL

Welcome to the club. It's been hard to get together as us Sydneysiders tend to work a bit harder and longer than others but we should be getting together more often. Rob is the unofficial leader of this motley crew. What say he?

Cheers Rad, yeah I'm thinking roof and bonnet to start off with...maybe try it on the kids bikes or something to get used to it first.

Mines wrapped 2k is cheap... I wouldn't even touch it for our jeeps I sell wraps... and i'd do it for 6k, take 7days to do a proper job. Some places here in Sydney hire back packers to do your car, if that's the type of peeps you want working on your car TBH I get a smash repair to pull apart and put back together for me, they charged me $1k for my car, you have to pull the front glass out to get the front door handles out, or drill a hole in a plastic guard so u can reach the nut.

Front and rear bar all the sensors are plastic welded, normal approach is they hit hit from the front using a hammer and punch which breaks the weld and usually the flange that you can see once put back. I don't I de weld leave the whole flange sensor housing intact.

Also there's a few other issues people will come across when wrapping these cars, but ill keep them under my sleeves

Just remember you pay for what you get....

Re: Sydney SRT Club

OK since asking about paint protection and seeing your relplies I've been on a bit of a guilt trip- where would you recommend getting it done? I'm going to cave.....

Also, I think someone said they got their window tinting done at the same place- that sounds good- suggestions please?

I don't mind where in Sydney as long as it's a quality job.

Thanks guys.

Re: Sydney SRT Club

You can always do it yourself just like S513bt said...

But I never have enough time these days, I wash and get my cars done at Car Spa - Parklea even with the wrap there machine then hand dry it unbelievable does not scratch or mark paint, Im sure there are places all over sydney that do good jobs... Im just lucky theres one close to home.
They do everything there from Paint Protection to wraps/stone guard (which I do)

Re: Sydney SRT Club

Great thanks Kilad.
Just doing a search and I see that Solartint in Brookvale do Opti Coat and window tinting together, which would be convenient for me- can anyone here recommend (or otherwise) them?
Thanks.

Thanks kilad4n, good to know. I didn't know it was such a complicated task...maybe I will hold off for now.
