Six or so months ago I met for the first time forum member mrmaker just hours after he got delivery of his SRT (he was very kind in taking me for a short drive). Anyway, during our first "meet" the idea of a Sydney SRT Club was brought up. As mine was still 6mths away it was pretty much left as just that, an idea. We kept in contact talking about other things like exhausts, air intakes and other stuff (as guys do). Fast track to the weekend just passed and mrmaker and I meet up with Radknight for a lunch & beer to discuss our cars and shoot the proverbial. All three of us agreed that an SRT club would be kinda cool so this thread is to gauge interest in forming a club. For now it will just be a "get together" type of thing rather than a full on registered club (apparently that takes quite a bit of work!). So it will be an internet based club, no requirement to sign up or rules to follow (except the road rules lol). Just a bunch of people with the same type of car catching up once every couple of months or so. Maybe do a drive somewhere so that SRT owners not in Sydney metro can join in along the way. I know there are a few guys in the Newcastle area who could maybe have a "Sub Branch" who catch up with each other and every now and then join us in Sydney somewhere. Very casual and not take it too seriously (which is often the demise of car clubs). Let me know if your interested.
looks good fellas , let me know when you grabbin some lunch next on the coast / entrance way . i will enjoy the drive down, buti hate going to sydney . i cant take your traffic lol
I have been involved in running a full blown car club in the past, so can help, but keeping it internet based is the best. Nothing to serious otherwise it gets to be to much work.
I know a place than can do our mods too, and just did another exhaust on a SRT yesterday.
Yes indeed mate, They are mates of mine.
They have worked on all my cars!
They did a 2012 SRT Dual 3" cat back yesterday and they did another a couple of months ago.
They have another one in January to do too.
Plus they have an in house fabricator who is magic with alloy, so intakes may not be an issue!
Sounds like it's all coming together. Looking forward to our next meet. I might have those front windows tinted and a few less badges next time we catch up.
Lovin' the SRT more and more everyday. And yeah I hate Sydney traffic too.
Hey guys, I'm here to represent for the goliath's!! lol
I had a nice surprise today that i'll be receiving my Xmas present early. it seems to be on the same (slow) boat as Marc's, arriving on wednesday.
Marc, i spoke to Dave after our phone call yesterday, told him there'll be a big demand for quality intakes that aren't too invasive to fit. He said he's looking into performance packages for all of us.
Wow, this is looking promising. We are beginning to get a collection of SRT owners in the Sydney region. It would be really good to get together, imagine the sight!!
Hi Kev, you both must have good taste in cars lol!....I thought it may have been Castle Hill Exhaust, i have heard alot about Dave, not only his skill but his genuine character. I have been tossing between going custom or the Borlas since i got the car, my only concern with custom is the warranty. I know Dave does a good job, neighbour 4 doors down has a 13 Alpine which was done by Dave, to what extent don't know, but it sounds awesome, deep and throaty.
Hi Kev, thanks for the headsup, I'm willing to wait three months. Do you have an idea on what pricing would be?. I would imagine something similar to that of a ford or a holden with a similar setup.
Cheers
Thanks mate, won't hold you to it, might go and see Dave myself, his only 5mins from home. I did most of my running in k's going to Wisemans ferry, what colour was it?
Dave won't have a firm price yet either as XForce are still in production for this exhaust. As soon as either Kev or I know the proper price I will let you guys know.
I do know the last 2 custom dual 3" they have done have been dirt cheap for the amount of time and materials that went into them!
I have heard them and all I can say is wow!
If you don't want to wait, they can still do you a custom dual 3" in and out in a day.
Also Dale the tuner at CHE can custom Dyno tune the SRT so that with a full exhaust might be a great fun package!!
I was thinking the same, try the mids, and if I decide I want more then I can onsell them and go lower.
I've had several thoughts on exhaust too. First I was gonna do Borla ATAK. Now i'm thinking start off with S Type and if I want louder I can sell the S Type and get the ATAk. BUT, I have just seen the vid for GTHaus catback at $3k............ awesome sound. Now, how to tell the wife I NEED it lol.
Hah! You guys kill me. Only a couple of weeks old and already gettin' stuck into the mods. I'm going to enjoy mine for a bit then do the CAI and Cat back. I'll probably kick myself for putting it off but I want to really get to know the Jeep before I change it.
G'day from the West I have just fitted the Road Magnet mid drop 1.8F 1.8R to my SRT8 and am happy with the result I have some parts off the car and when back together will post pictures. Fitted them at 700km
Richard
Cool. I definitely want to use you guys a guinea pigs here. LOL
Also, did my first 'Launch'. Just messing around not even trying on an empty development street. 5.3 secs....with the A/C on. Exhilarating is a good word. Can't wait for my next go and actually trying. Afterward ran into a guy with a Granite '13 JC SRT8. Gave him a very enthusiastic thumbs up.
Make sure you plan a road trip south as well as north - say Kangaroo Valley - and I will make the trip up from Canberra. I had a very enjoyable blat up through there a fortnight ago and thought how much fun it would be to hear 10 SRT's blasting up that hill.
I have a '13 in Brilliant Black
I couldn't get a vapour in "my time frame" so made my own
- removed chrome front grille replaced with vapour grille
- removed chrome bonnet jeep badge and replaced with black
- replaced rear chrome boomerang with Brilliant Black
- tinted front windows
- painted lower chrome rings PX8
- removed grand Cherokee side badging
- replaced pedals with US version - and matching foot brake
- put in SRT SS entry sills
- Billet Technology under hood kit
- Borla Atak (Ceramic coated black - done in Sydney actually)
- Injen intake - installed today
- Trinity arrives this week I hope - which should be fun
Sweet ride. Can't wait to see it. Kangaroo Valley is a great run in any car. Can't wait to do it in the SRT. And yeah, I can just see (and hear) 10 SRTs strolling up the hills. I feel sorry for Nan and Pop in their Datsun B210 holding up the convoy.
Where did you get the SRT SS sills? That's a definite for me. I've seen the 'Grand Cherokee' ones but not the SRT's.
Also what % did you get our front windows tinted? I can do my own and was thinking 30%. Had a beautiful grey 15% metallic in my last car but had white seats so it didn't work out to well with the interior reflection at night. Now I have the sepia and don't want to make the same mistake twice.
