Re: The Best Cold Air Intake System for SRT ???

Lots of people will jump your case and say it is a waste of money, but I went with an Injen anyway. Injen will be your best bang for the buck. The new AFE looks great, but was on eternal back order when I went to order one. I'm sure someone will chime in on how these aren't true "cold air" and the only one is the bwoody. Being my daily driver, I wasn't too fond of placing a filter inches off the ground.

Fit and finish, attention to detail, aFe.

Not an SRT8, but a Hemi. Detail some of the components.

Installation and Review: aFe Momentum GT Intake - WK2 Grand Cherokee 5.7 L V8

Re: The Best Cold Air Intake System for SRT ???

I recommend the aFe Momentum GT as well. However I modded mine a bit as another member did as well. I wrapped the sides of the box, the tube, and the factory plastic air shield that directly face the engine with reflective aluminized heat wrap. I also used closed cell foam window/AC adhesive stripping to ensure a tight seal between the factory intake air shield (plastic below the box that the intake box sits on top of). For whatever reason, the aFe intake housing's mouth at the bottom does not sit flush with the factory plastic air shield. There is about 1/2" of gap. aFe apparently said they didn't think this would make a difference, but I didn't think hot air directly from the engine bay having direct access to the largest opening on the intake was a good idea. The factory plastic shield is not 100% sealing from the engine bay, but it does direct airflow to primarily come from the intake ducts below the LED strips.

Got a basically brand new aFe CAI for sale - $400 shipped. It was installed but the jeep was never driven while sitting around waiting for a custom tune. Ended up removing all the parts and selling the jeep.

When I had my SRT8 I went w/ Bwoody CAI. Look them up, pretty bad ass plus you can select which color you want. Worked quite well on mine.

I got the Injen CAI. I love it. Sounds nice and throaty like I expected and even has a nice little whistle when you going through the gears.
No complaints

My intake temps while moving were better with the injen. I had the hood access panel removed. The Afe is by far a better build and will control temperatures better while stopped, i've kept it in due to the quality of build.

Re: The Best Cold Air Intake System for SRT ???

Me and another member local to me have gone thru a couple different set ups. We both have ran the different setups at the track and one intake has never been better than the other, we both ran same e.t.'s with every one. I personally run the afe stage 2 filter and heat sheild with stock intake tube
