Thinking about getting an SRT

Hey guys. I just bought my first Jeep about two months ago (GC Altitude edition). It is also my first SUV ever. I have been super happy with it so far, and I am really considering buying the SRT to accompany it. Any recommendations or pointers you guys have? I also called my local dealer, and they said they don't usually allow test drives on them. I may just want to compare the Overland versus the SRT when I get there. Thank you for any comments!!

First recommendation is find a new dealer. Any dealer that expects someone to buy a car from them without test driving it should be avoided, regardless of the trim level.

Agreed. Especially now. I had a tougher time finding one when I got mine in April 2014.

Re: Thinking about getting an SRT

X2 on the test drive part. Hell I had 2 in my driveway for a week, from 2 different dealers lol

OP....I love mine. Some quality control issues but all are addressed in TSBs. I've taken mine to the track even, never even seen drag racing in real life before. So many complements too. New experiences come with an SRT, 100% glad I was able to get one

Thinking about getting an SRT

Go for it! Although, why would you compare an Overland to an SRT when you get there?? Makes no sense... Btw, find a new dealer.

Maybe I look poor, but I've always found this to be the case with 'lower number production' cars. Wouldn't let me drive an SRT Jeep, even when I was about to buy a Summit from them.

Hell, when I bought my WRX a few years ago, dealers wouldn't let me drive those either. I was in the showroom with a check in hand and they were telling me they didn't let anyone drive the WRX's. Said no way in hell am I spending money without testing the car first. They let me drive maybe 2 miles down the road and back. I ended up buying at another dealership.

Wow. That is crazy. I would never buy from a place like that.

Re: Thinking about getting an SRT

I got to test drive one, although it wasn't easy finding a dealer nearby willing to allow such things. Before I test drove the SRT I had only driven an Overland or a Summit. There really is no comparison. Although I didn't immediately see what everyone was talking about, once I owned my car I understood immediately.

Yeah. Well, I guess I see both sides. I would imagine they don't want just random (non serious buyers) coming and test driving just for thrills. But then that aspect detracts from the experience of those who want to buy one ad are quite serious.

Since I haven't been able to get to the dealer yet, there is no comparison to the Summit and SRT?

Re: Thinking about getting an SRT

Another user was telling me that Summit is pretty sweet. I know it is the 5.7 versus the SRT's 6.4, so I was curious on how that felt. There was also some mention that the interior is a lot more plush in the summit, along with more acoustic glass. I was just curious and asking. I know I will get a better sense if I actually drive them.
