First I would like to say that my life feels more complete now that this beast is actually in my garage!
This for me = soft wood.
I opted for the black (amazing paint, sparkles in the sun) fully loaded with all the options. Pano instead of the rear DVD though. Tow Group, Lux Group II, HP Audio, Engine Block Heater. Has it all.
The interior is an absolute dream! The carbon fiber accents, the RHR with USB ports, the leather....awwww man this is worth the price. The interior is sick, seats grip you and make you feel like part of the truck. The cooled seats are great for my sweaty ass & back in the summer, and heated for winter coldness! The steering wheel is fkn great! Wrapped in leather all the way around, my major complaint with the 2011 Overland was that the plastic on the top of the wheel was always slippery and greasy. This wheel is just fricken flat out awesome in feel and looks. Feels like it was made specifically for my hands, so many ways to grip it & rip it.
Super clean on delivery, no flaws on pickup (well some very minor anal retentive details but overall 99.999% perfect on pickup)
This drives like a champ, paddle shifters work fine, exhaust sounds great! No issues at all and I feel like ive tried to test everything. Still have to play with the Select Track dial more but I can def feel the difference from auto to sport. This is the power ive been waiting for, I had a 2011 Overland V8 and it was just, well, no balls at all! It feels good to be back behind a beast like this.
The brakes stop on a dime as Brembos should, and my feeling about the rims have well, changed big time! They look amazing in person. I think they are better than the old model SRT8 rims. I can tell they are going to be a PITA to clean but I LOVE how they look. I have no doubt all of you will change your tune when you see them up close.
Moving from the 2011 Overland Summit to the 2012 SRT8, many of the features are the same and its basically the same ride except for the massive amount of steroids this one is on!
The RHR seems way faster in terms of response to showing info, connecting to devices (iPods) than the RHB I had in the 2011.
The HP audio sounds good although I think my 2009 SRT8 had more body pumping base with the kicker sub. I think this sound system is cleaner, crisper, and better quality though. I think it will get better as I use it. The speakers will take a few months to break in, then I will have a better idea. I just wish there was a more robust equalizer. I also wish the system would save your settings after exit (always have to go back in and select random for my iPod).
Im in Michigan so I'm thinking about buying some winter rims and tires so I dont ruin these bad boys in the snow. I was fortunate to have this rig built on my birthday (yay birthday present for me), then delivered 11 days later. No long hold in storage or any garbage! I have to say I was worried about quality issues when i saw how long everyone else was waiting. Glad I was able to receive this in a reasonable amount of time after it was built. My dealer gave me a KILLER deal on OTD price (PM me if you want to know specifically). 1% below invoice with the old price protected totals prior to having all the options jacked up in price.
Just a couple of minor gripes:
1. No cargo net included for the trunk tie downs. Dealer options sheet says its included but its not. Ill call cryco and see what the deal is on this. Did anyone else get a net with their purchase?
2. Cant use the voice connect feature on the RHR to switch songs by title on my iPod. Maybe im missing something but I cant figure out how to do this right now.
3. The FOB will not allow me to roll the front windows down by pressing unlock x2 and holding. Not sure why not, WKJEEPS says it should work but no dice. Can any of you try it out who have one?
Bottom line: buy this Jeep!
