thoughts/discussion-would staggered tires be ok on our SRT's?

Dealer had my front bumper off to replace headlamps and when they put it back my frint tires are now rubbing the strip on the bumper where the rivets go. It was barely rouch before and rubbed a spot out...but in the pass. side tonight it tore the strip off at the top. Now to the discussion.....Does anyone think changing from my 305 35 22 to a 285 35 22 in the front would make much difference or damage anything drivetrain wise? Anyone running a staggered tire or wheel/tire set up?

If you follow the same ratio as on the wk1 I'm sure you'd be fine

Re: thoughts/discussion-would staggered tires be ok on our SRT's?

I understand this doesn't address your question but I believe all of the Concavos rub on RM mids. You'll need a +40 offset at minimum to not rub on mids. I think most of the RM guys with custom wheels are running +45 which is a little too tucked for my taste.

Otherwise I agree with above ^. However somewhere I saw a pic of Staggered fitment on a WK2 and it didn't look right. The WK2 is a very squared vehicle with pronounced front fenders. The X5, WK1, etc. have a more tapered look to the body allowing the staggered fitment to flow better.

The car looks great Scott. My buddy's and I have a phrase: "the cost to floss". I say let em rub!!!

coming from an evo X and STI i would personally never run different size tires. Different diameter tires are a serious no no and will kill you center. running wider in the back and Skinnier in the front will still have the same result. The safest would be run a 285 with different offset front and rear.

Mine never rubbed till the dealership had my bumper off. I have the extreme fronts and mid rears. I had 285 35 22 before and they dont look much different visually than the 305 35 22.

Re: thoughts/discussion-would staggered tires be ok on our SRT's?

I had the Concavo CW S5 with 305-35-22's on my 15' for a few weeks and the front rubbed just a little at stock height. I now have the Niche Misano wheels with no rubbing. I have to agree with A-kon, I do not think a staggered setup will look right.

Just because someone did it doesn't mean it can be done... That's a crappy tire setup you don't stagger height you stagger width and you will void your powertrain warranty if it matters to you running that setup with almost 3/4 of an inch difference in height front to rear. Good luck down the road you'll need it running those sizes.

Re: thoughts/discussion-would staggered tires be ok on our SRT's?

It is physically impossible for handling to improve by going from your OEM setup to those staggered Concavos.

Even more, I have the lightest verified 22s thus far on a wk2 SRT and it will not out handle OEM. My wheels came in at 26lbs and I uploaded them on a scale to prove it when they first came in. My buddies shop sells Concavos and I picked up the 5 spoke 20 and 22. It is heavy

Never stagger tire diameters on an AWD vehicle..
