De-badged from day one.
Hate cleaning around them.
Only have the JEEP one left on the rear tailgate.
Would have taken that of if it wasn't for the indent it sits in.

I don't think you lose any of the sleeper factor by taking the badges off. Coming from 2 Chargers previously, you could always tell the difference between the performance chargers (Road & Track, Daytona, Scat Pack, SRTs...those new T/As will be pretty sweet, too) and the rental car V6s. There's more community in the performance Mopar world and it means something to give a little wave or head nod to those that are cut from a similar cloth.

But with the GC SRTs...they look an awful lot like the standard GCs. Can you really tell the difference between an SRT, a High Altitude, an Altitude, a Limited, and a Overland when you pass one on the street? Maybe it's just because I am new to Jeeps, but I can't. But when I see one with shaved badges and a slightly lowered stance and nice wheels...I take a much closer look and give them the nod because they have put some work into their ride.

I'm also surprised at the level of vitriol coming from those against de-badging. Why so mad?

Those against de-badging: It's "ghetto", "childish", and "silly"
Those in favor of it: "it's clean", "hate cleaning all of the crevices", just like it, don't want to advertise for the manufacturer

It's a pretty big contrast in tone. I think you can say what you like about the stock look without knocking others.

I just think for someone to use the term "ghetto" is pretty ridiculous in and of itself. That slang is demoralizing in its entirety and unnecessary when making mention of someone's modification regardless of how silly it may look. Some people are quick to make generalizations and suffer from speaking before they think. Just my $.02...

How do you initially pop the badge/letters off? Previously, I have waited for a really hot day and let it bake in the sun for a few hours and then peel them off...and cleaning all of the leftover residue. I tried with the Grand Cherokee letters on the side...no dice. I can always use the fishing line method, but thought you might have some more tips.

Same here, except my T/A was a 1977!

I ordered it in September of '76, took delivery about 5 weeks later. I would, if I still had it. However, it got a little "warped" during the removal process. It's held in with double sided tape, and there are 2 locating pins, to properly orient the logo. Yes, heat and fishing line. Cuts through like a hot knife through butter, then use the eraser to get off the residual left over adhesive.

The great thing about badging is it's so easy to re-do if you're not satisfied with a certain look.

I swapped all the chrome badges for black..

As for removing the hood emblem, I will say that with the design of the SRT hood a debadged SRT hood has a nice look to it. The standard GC hood looks better with the emblem. Just my .02.

BTW, what rims do you have? Checked, your profile page, but don't see any mention of them.

Yeah, get one of these for removing the tape. Takes about 2min or less per badge

As I said, to me it looks silly and childish. Doesn't mean to others it does. It is your vehicle, do to it what makes you happy. While I never de-badge my 06 GCSRT, I did do what, at the time, was the most popular first visual mod, and that was to remove the stock antenna and replace with a short chrome antenna. It was a great visual mod, but I could see how other would have the same feeling about it as I do about de-badging.
