Hello

I need some advice....I currently own 2, '14 GC Summit 5.7s. My dealer recently called said he has a customer who cannot afford his '14 SRT and wants out. He knew I always wanted the SRT but I didnt want to pony up the almost $20k to get one.

He asked if I may be interested in trading my car plus another $15K for this guys SRT.

Just wanted to hear some opinions.

The sticker on my Summit was $57k and I paid $50K
The sticker on the SRT was $69K

I live in New England so the only thing that concerns me is driving in the snow, then again I always have the other summit if I trade mine.

Any thoughts??

Thanks in advance

Jeff

Driving in the snow I'd imagine that you will need another set of wheels/tires...but I'm in Texas so I can't speak from personal experience, just passing along what I have read others say...

With that being said, if you wanted an SRT and are happy with the price offered, why not? :D They are a BLAST to drive.

I have owned my SRT since the end of June. Every morning I get in and start it up, I have grin from ear to ear. You will not be disappointed!!

I personally went from a 2012 V6 overland to a 2012 5.7 overland to the 2014 SRT. It is a completely different machine all together and worth every cent!

If you want an SRT go for it, but I would try to get a better deal.

I have never owned a more fun car. I live in AZ and the convertible Corvettes been parked with car cover on for over a month.

Don't wait another day!! My only regret with buying my SRT is that I didn't do it sooner. I've owned several through the years. Started with the Limiteds to a diesel model, several Overlands then moved to the Overland Summit. Nothing comes close to comparing to the 2014 SRT. It's the most enjoyable fun ride I've ever owned. I can't go anywhere without getting compliments. The saying "get in, shut up and hold on"fits this car like a glove! Don't be surprised when you walk into work with a smile!

If you can swing it, go for it. You won't regret it. Don't worry about the snow, just get some nice winter tires and your good to go or you have your other overland.

I don't have mine yet (ordered 2 weeks ago) but I knew after the first test drive that I had to have one. It is the only vehicle that I've driven that made me smile that much and I've driven rs5's, m3's, vetted, ext.

If the finances work and it's what you want it say go for it.

completely agree with the better deal....i mean you already have a nice looking car and i understand that you want to get into an SRT which they are incredible, i love mine....but tell her to get you some numbers you can work with.

either way pull the trigger and do it!

Thanks for all of the input everyone!! I am going there Friday to crunch numbers. Since I posted they offered $42k for my Summit which, I think, is low by about 4-5k. They also said they have to get $60k for the SRT. It has 5000 miles on it.

The SRT with a good set of winter tires is more than capable on snow (snow-covered pavement, that is...). And I fully agree on all the "smiles-per-gallon" comments above :)

I look forward to driving now, I literally giggle every time I floor it (I'm serious), I get compliments all the time, I catch myself staring at it from the window or when I pass by a parking mirror or a glass building, no disrespect to the summit, its a great car in its own way, i think only the SRT will be able to do everything i mentioned above

I'm also considering trading in my current WK2 for an SRT.

My main issue is the total lack of any Off Road ability on the SRT (which is a damn shame for any vehicle that carries the name JEEP). :poke:

As others have said, the SRT should be fine in light snow. It's a great vehicle on the road from everything I've seen & read.

I pulled the trigger tonight. Thank you to everyone who offered their opinion. My SRT is Black with 3000 miles on it. Now I have to start ordering goodies before the snow gets here! (RI) I look forward to contributing to this forum.

Now I have to tell my wife........

Thanks again,
Jeff

Nobody can tell you whst to do, but I CAN tell you that I'm driving a six month old 2013 Overland....It's a great truck, but if my dealer made that offer to me right this minute , I'd be down there in the morning. The more I learn about them, the more I realize what a special vehicle that SRT is. Go for it if you can do it without stretching things too far...you only live once.

So after 8 hours with the srt I hated it. The ride was so stiff and uncomfortable, compared to my summit, I called the sales manager and told him I wanted to return it. He asked me to drive it for another day and call him back. So that is what I did.

I am so glad he made me do that because since then I have totally fallen in love with it and I "get it". I already ordered my borla atak (hopefully its not too loud) and am ordering my bwoody intake monday.

Thanks to everyone for their input. I am sure I will have tons of questions for everyone.

Wow, for a second there you scared me. After driving the Overland V8 and Diesel I thought long and hard about it and said "screw it, I'm gettin' the SRT". It was only after I ordered it that I had the chance to take it for a test drive, a short 1/2 hour test drive. So you had me pretty worried there after only having it for 8 hours. Glad it worked out for you.
