1/4 mile times are important for a DD. You will have many more opportunities to enjoy straight line acceleration day to day than you will handling prowess (and let us not forget that the WK1 is no handling slouch itself, stiffly sprung as it may be).
Anyone can drive fast in a straight line..... where is the skill in that?

The WK1 may be 1/10 of a sec. faster in the 1/4 mile, but I would rather trade the time for the ability of towing my racecar in a luxurious cabin and a more refined bodystyle..... while beating the WK1 where it really counts..... the track.....

So...if you say it was running those times...I believe you....you now more about it than me.(and you posted some links) I also know for a fact the 2012 will run less than 13 stock as well. I have seen vids.
Got it

Trust me, I hope it does too. MY WK1 was...is still I guess.. for sale as I was planning on getting into a WK2. After the pricing fiasco and the disappointing times SO FAR ive decided to either wait for the 8spd or get into an S4.

If we start seeing WK2s knocking off 12.8s and 12.7s all day long in the wild I will definitely reevaluate.

yeah...communication is tough on a forum like this. I think you will see those times as soon as they hit the streets and strips. I think this Jeep will be the best on road courses and the like.

While I agree with you on the 1/4 mile stuff. I will gladly take my modified WK1 to the track and have no problem beating the can't be modified WK2. Yes, I track mine.

Awesome...... so you have a modded WK1 therefore I pick the track....

Let's set up a date for next spring at Watkins Glen and see how a stock WK2 compares to a modded WK1,then we can post the videos here.....

What do you say?

Well, that will never happen. You live in Boston, I live in Chicago. You don't even know if you can run on that track. Way to pick a local track at that. Thanks but no thanks.

Dude, you have the modded WK1 that will " have no problem beating the can't be modified WK2" and are worried about the track I pick?

WGI is world class and 400 miles from Boston, hardly a local track.....

Anyway, you shouldn't really be making claims about your modded WK1 you can't back up..... see you......

But it's ok for you to and you haven't even driven yours yet. Do you even have a vin#? LOL.

Plus you want me to drive 660 miles. LOL again.

I would love to run @ Watkins but I drive my track car, I don't tow it and don't live near it. I can show you a video. It has been a pleasure chatting.

Re: Track Tested Video: 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT8 vs 2011 Porsche Cayenne Turbo

The 2012 is 800 lbs fatter than the previous SRT, which is a lot of weight to pull, so probably not much faster if at all. The big difference is in the chassis, with much better handling and far superior build quality. The previous SRT uses old school upgrades for handling; i.e., stiff and very rough riding on potholed boulevards.

800 Lbs? What are you comparing the Chally and the Jeep? The Wk1 Srt weighed around 4780, the Wk2 weighs 5150 roughly. 370 pound difference, not 800, still a substantial weight gain.

No I have never driven one nor do I have a vin#, so I guess your WK1 wins....

Edit: here is my video for you, only 210HP, lots of fun....

800 lbs? I think you have your numbers mixed up.

2010 WK1 SRT8 Curb Weight4850 lbs.
2012 WK2 SRT8 Curb Weight 5150 lbs

Maybe you saw an 8 instead of a "3" for 300 lbs difference?

**Edit. Sorry MLarco..Didn't see you already addressed the issue. But the 4850 curb weight is taken from WKJeeps for the 2010 and 2012.
