Nice vid man! Thats my local track! haha, Ive raced their in a few BMW's me and my buddy run w/ the SCCA in the local BMW club sometimes Hoping to get a chance at running a highly modified E46 M3 from a local BMW performance shop who races this summer fingers x'ed!. But I gotta say, those Porsches hold their own out their, very fun looks like

That was huge win for NJ, about a $1 billion project for the entire NJMP park, like 3 courses, some dirt stuff, bunch of good stuff. I love that track too man. 2 and half miles of pure fun. Its awesome to watch too, just watched the Grand Am series there few weekends ago! Those things are friggin awesome. Hope to work my way up with my buddy and get into one of the more serious classes, fingers x'ed

Re: Track Tested Video: 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT8 vs 2011 Porsche Cayenne Turbo

While I think the SRT8 is the better vehicle for onroad performance and price...

I think the Porsche Cayenne wins because it can do Both outstanding ONROAD and excellent OFFROAD on the same platform.

The SRT8 has no offroad ability.

Sure, the Porsche cost about double what the WK2 SRT8 does, but I think that makes sense since to get the same performance, you'd have to buy TWO Jeep Grand Cherokees (1 for onroad & 1 for offroad).

Oh... and the SRT8 sounded WAY BETTER.

Re: Track Tested Video: 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT8 vs 2011 Porsche Cayenne Turbo

The new Car Show with Adam Carolla just did a test of the X5M and Cayenne Turbo, both on the track and they took them offroad. The Cayenne won because of the air lift suspension. The BMW didn't fare as well.
Obviously not a scientific test, but it showed that it could go offroad with 20" rims and performance tires. More so than ANYONE with a brain would have done! LOL.

Re: Track Tested Video: 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT8 vs 2011 Porsche Cayenne Turbo

Guys, please stick to your day jobs, this back seat design driving is rediculous. There are thousands of federal mandates as far as cars go, and somehow you are hear talking like the SRT team was sitting around sipping their mochas and eating their bonbons and deciding how they can add weight and major cost to the wk2 srt grand. The WK2 is a MUCH nicer vehicle, obviously I have yet to see an srt8 grand but the WK1 SRT8, while still a beautiful vehicle, and at the top of my want list, has NOTHING on the WK2, the interior, the seating, the technology. I FAR surpasses the WK1.

Maybe they should have done like BMW, Mercedes, and Porche and taken their high horsepower handbuilt motors with turbos and been considerably slower than the srt8 grand when it came out with its ancient technology pushrod V8. That way as the years go by they can squeeze a bit more power out of their engines that are BEGGING to be unleashed with a little programming and eek out on top with a 6 figure price tag.

I am not understanding why there is so much irritation with the car, it is better in EVERY catigory less a couple performance numbers, so what if its a **** hair slower than the last years, it looks a mile better and interior attention to detail is also a mile ahead... there is some serious hair splitting going on round here. As for the modding, as long as there are things to mod, there will be people that get paid the big bucks to crack it. Ultimately all that easy tuning leads to is people blowing stuff up and making chrysler pay for it when it was being operated outside of its design. Chrysler, on the back side of another bankruptcy is not a good time for them to be paying for parts and labor for people to blow expensive engines, transmissions and other drivetrain components to pieces after modifying them.

the srt wk vs. srt wk2 fighting is really lame - ruining this whole section.

fast forward to 5 minutes.....

** Always seeing carefully contrived "test tracks" so as to not damage the tires on the performance SUV's.
