Trans Temp

I just traded my 2012 for an new 2015 and so far I really like the new trans. What is a normal operating temp? Mine runs around 200 degrees. Is this normal? I'm still under 1000 miles.

Re: Trans Temp

Yes, totally. I just happened to converse with ZF tech support in Germany on this very question.

ZF Germany says....

Normal range 175-212 deg F
Danger zone is about 248

They qualified their response as being what the 8HP70 (3.0l,5.7l,6.4l) is designed to operate at but that the OEM writes the software (sound familiar guys which sets the actual operating temps. He said this is close but not exact as only the OEM knows the final application specific operating parameters.

How's that for luck in timing your question?

So Chrysler is writing the software for the Transmission? No wonder so many people's tranny's are screwed. They should just call up ZF and ask them to fix the software!?! Sorry to hijack the thread.

The hardware makes it "possible", and the software brings it to life although some would debate the quality of that life.
