Transfer Lease

I'm thinking about getting rid of my SRT that I just got in January. I love it but now I'm into something else. Anyone ever tried to transfer a lease on an SRT before and is it a painful process?

Re: Transfer Lease

Not 100% sure by "transfer". If you are referring to "transferring" a good chunk of money outa your bank to satisfy your lease commitment, then it is a piece of cake. Remember, you don't own anything, so there is no equity in your contract, only liability that will be 100% rolled over into your next lease/purchase.

Try swapalease.com if you really need to get out. Good luck.

Re: Transfer Lease

I used swapalease.com to get out of a past lease. I signed up for both that and leasetrader. Zero activity on leasetrader. Swapalease generated a decent amount of interest.

It works but can be a tedious process. The first 6 or 7 people that were truly interested didn't end up passing the credit check. It also depends on how good the lease rate is for the car, how much times is left, and how many miles are left. Ended up taking me around 6 months to finally get someone who passed credit and didn't flake out. My lease was through US Bank who is especially tough with credit approvals, particularly on transfers. Also, check with your leasing company to make sure they allow full transfer, meaning that the new owners take complete responsibility for the lease. Some companies allow a transfer but can hold the original owner accountable for missed payments or mileage overages.

Re: Transfer Lease

Bummer.. Chrysler Capital does not do lease transfers. I'll just put it up for sale.
