TSBs

Gents,

I pulled up the list of TSBs and there seem to be 25 for the 2015s.

I've never owned a new car before. Do I just book an appointment and give the service advisor my list and ask them to perform the updates? Can they search by my VIN and see which ones specifically apply to my truck?

How long do these updates usually take?

Thanks for helping a noob!

Re: TSBs

I went to the dealer the other day for my '15 for a couple of TSB's I thought I needed. One was for the Uconnect update and the other was for the '15 SRT transmission. The radio update was done but, they said I didn't need the '15 SRT specific transmission update. They hook up to your OBD port and all available flashes/updates show up. I did question them on why the trans update wasn't needed and they said it was already up to date. Mileage wise I'm almost to 700. I'll inquire again when I get my first oil change in April/May. I also notice whenever I have work done at this particular dealership (Had a '12 SRT before), they always check for any available updates/flashes for my vehicle. Hope this helps.

Re: TSBs

Most of them are not SRT specific. Of the 25 maybe 4-6 are for your vehicle. I generally email my service rep ahead so that they are prepared. Look over the ones specific to your model and see if they apply. Sometimes these updates make things worse. Cheers!

773SRT-

I'm here in Chicago in Lakeview what dealer do you take your SRT to and are you happy with their service? I have a 13 Summit as well and the dealer I bought that one from gives loaners, but when I spoke with the service rep today about getting updated flashes to my SRT he said he wouldn't give me a loaner because I didn't buy my SRT from them (bought used). I wasn't happy given that I have bought many cars from this family of dealerships.

Re: TSBs

Redealmaker, I'd go speak with the General Manager. Service advisors probably don't think on a bigger picture basis, where the GM should consider your past business and try to make you happy.

My BMW dealer did the same thing but I spoke up and always get a loaner now (although I have to book 2 weeks out).

Re: TSBs

My service dealer always provides me with a loaner if the vehicle is kept overnight. If I wanted one for a one day stay I could get one too but I tend to pick my battles and those are generally not worth it.

These days most but not all dealers are waking up to the notion that great service is more than just a car wash when you pick up your car, it's what sets them apart from the other masses and might bring you back for repeat business.

Redealmaker-

I use Bettenhausen Jeep in Tinley Park. They provided me with a loaner when my '12 SRT was having the issues with the wheel well moldings coming loose. (They source out their bodywork). That's really the only time I've needed one. I always make an appointment. If you do this and they think you might need a loaner they'll hold one for you or if they're out of loaners, they shuttle you to an Enterprise rental nearby and you get the loaner from them. (Free of charge). I've never had a problem with this dealership for service on my SRT's. I stay in the city and this is where I always go for service. Restaurants, Walmart and other stores close by too. I also bought my SRT's from different dealerships and never had a problem with Bettenhausen.
