This! It took over a decade for the Escort to catch the V1 in range among other things. No doubt they are good radar detectors but the Valentine 1 appeal wins me over. A radar detector without arrows is worthless to me. As far as false alarms, like lillyjas said I'm trained and automatically know what is and isn't legitimate. The idea of a computer aggressively filtering for me and "remembering" does not give me confidence.
I've had my V1 for about 12 years. I've sent it in for upgrades twice. They don't constantly pump out new gimmicks and models every year, a practice that offends me. They use the KISS principle. Keep It Simple Stupid. Factory direct purchasing. Etc.
I pride myself in not being a fanboy of anything. The Valentine 1 is probably the only product in the world I really am a fanboy for.
Still, with the arrow patent being up I might be more open minded in comparison tests...

Today for example was rocking home Ka went off arrows showed in front and then off and then in front and flashed side meaning he was somewhere nearby and close ahead ... Stopped at a light and then again ahead.. Took off almost ready to pass and an unmarked car was in the right lane in traffic so I was able to abort and let someone else pass to which the chase ensured...
I guess if you never had them would not miss them, but knowledge is power
