Re: Vs....m3

Since I currently have my 2010 M3 Coupe with the DCT trans, (although I should be taking delivery of a 2012 Overland V8 in a couple hours to replace the M3), I'll give my own opinion.

The M3 was never made to be the fastest car from a dead stop. I found it to be very good at just about everything, but not the fastest in all categories. It still performs great for a 6 year old design. And yes, the SRT8 GC would of course be faster off the line due to AWD. The M3, even if using launch control is fast off the line, but it still doesn't have the advantage of AWD in a launch condition. Now if they offered an AWD M3, then that would be an interesting launch. No doubt then it would be as fast as the Nissan GTR off the line.

I'm sure I'll miss the power and handling of the M3, but I'm looking forward to the new Overland.

We have a 6 spd M3 Sedan and it would start catching up to my '06 SRT at about 70mph and then just blow it away, but on the street 0-60 is what matters. Good luck on the Overland, I sold my SRT for my '11 Overland and regret it everyday.

Good work, douchebags in Bimmers are a dime a dozen but tis always good to see them put in their place! I like BMW's but their drivers (majority of course, not all) ruin the brand for me hahaha

Re: Vs....m3

Read the thread, lol.

If "improper start" includes spinning the wheels and laying down rubber, then the AWD makes that violation hard to achieve with the WK2.

Street racing in traffic is troublesome... Most of the trauma that I've seen from racing involved motorcycles. Crashes from "Saturday Night Nationals" happen, but alcohol is usually involved.

I've only handled 2 traumas from sanctioned track races; both had minor injuries... Would have been worse without the safety equipment (or if an 18 wheeler was involved on the open road).
