Re: Wait time for delivery - Australia

Ordered mine today in black, pano sun roof, HK audio and spider monkeys. By fluke chance they had one already on a ship with these options which will be delivered in 6 weeks. I guess I got lucky. I've got to questin some of the prices being quoted at around 80k. I know it's unfashionable in some peoples eyes to state what they payed for these cars but really...... 80k ......with those options....... Coooome oooon. Maybe for a demo but still.......coooome oooooon.

Do not feel that way, as you are an early adopter and you pay for this privilege. I paid RRP on my CRD Overland as it was the first batch. I could have got a better deal if I got a Hemi, or bought it now. This is because dealers are more willing to do a deal, as they have better stock.

Just enjoy your car and do not regret the decision

6 weeks, well done HammerTime; how lucky was that?

In my area in Melbourne it is confirmed that the local Jeep Dealership Drive Away price for a "stock" SRT has dropped over the past 4 months;

From Nov '13 = $84,003, to Mar '14 = $83,953

Re: Wait time for delivery - Australia

Thanks Marty k. I'm in Melbourne to. There is a new Jeep Dodge Chrysler dealership that has opened in Hawthorn and they had two black srt's in stock as of last Tuesday. I actually went there yesterday with the intention of buying one of them but they had both sold already on Friday. They were great to deal with compared to the arrogance I have experienced at other dealerships around Melbourne. Judging by the stock prices you have quoted I think they gave me really good deal to considering the options I got.

Re: Wait time for delivery - Australia

New dealership in Hawthorn,,, mmmmm. I have got 3 Melbourne dealerships on my radar but not Hawthorn. I'll have a look over there too.

In the past I have only personally dealt with 1 Jeep dealership and, yes, bunch of arrogant so an so's. But that was years ago so I'm hoping my next Jeep buying experience will be better. I reckon that I'm better prepared this time around thanks to this great site

Yep! This is hard one, but all dealers got that surply an demand thing hedged differently. Here's what I mean, I give the dealer what I wanted,much the same order as you hammer time apart from different colour (granite) . Ok they don't have this srt with those options in stock. Anyway the price to order an wait for 5 mths comes to 87 grand. Ok, then another sales rep over hears the order an says "oh I know of a srt with those options sitting at one of our branches" where it was on order for another buyer who pulled out. This was offered to me, only thing missing was the spider monkey alloys, which is dealer fit accessory, my sales rep says no worries mate change the alloys for you no extra cost. Hang on this srt was for some one else, the sale price was still 87 grand, I don't think so! They think they were doing me a favour, as far I was concern I was doing them a favour by taking some one else's order off ther hands an giving them a quick sale. The price should have been reduce, there was no offer of that, I quietly turned to my sales rep " no thanks mate I'll order a new one an wait the 5 mths!

Re: Wait time for delivery - Australia

Just remember the RRP is $77k, so you should get a stock one for under $80k drive away

This isn't a Lada, they aren't the slightest bit concerned, they know that no matter what a GC SRT is a quick sale. If not you then, maybe later today to someone else, I doubt it last a week before it's gone.

I'm just trying to understand the Jeep (Aust) rationale as to how they can sell a fully optioned SRT for around $80K Drive Away or a stock SRT for that matter.

SRT RRP = $77,000
LCT = $1,800 (Mandatory charge)
Rego = $770 (Mandatory charge)
Stamp D = $3,500 (Mandatory charge)

TOTAL = $83,070 ............for an SRT with no options and there is no $1,500 - $3,000 Dealer Deliver charge in that price either.

How do they do it? I know that somehow the dealer will fudge the numbers, but I'm interested in how. This knowledge would certainly help a new car buyer.
