Thanks all... might make an independent enquiry to another dealer to get another opinion.
Spec is black + roof/audio, so pretty standard combination I'd have thought.
Fleet provider is offering a very appealing package which I cannot beat by sourcing my own pricing, hence Im not so keen to look at a vehicle in stock at a significant price premium.
Hi Drew,
Do you mind if i ask what prices you have been quoted. I have ordered 2014 with roof, audio and spider monkeys and came in at drive away $81k
Dealer in Sydney region. I tried through a fleet company however in this instance they were dearer.
Best regards,
Geoff
I also got a quote for $80k drive away for a car in stock, with HK, but without roof.
They would have done better if I ordered one and waited.
I was tempted by the offer, but it was not what I wanted and the minister of war and finance said there was still too much owing on my Overland to get the deal across the line.
Dealers are asking $82k-90k for ones in stock, which is a joke of a price.
I guess it depends how your fixed as far as what transport you have now - if you have good reliable vehicles now i would suggest wait - but if you need to get out of a rattler i wouldn't wait.
I still have an awesome G/C (WJ) Management has great 300c daughter has good car.....friends will always pitch in ect
I ordered mine around 17th Dec i think and....still waiting but happy to do so
Looking at some of those prices!......Err lets just say i did very well! and i am very happy to wait
A '14 SRT complete with all or most of the options for less than $80K (Drive Away) is insane . Congratulations to those on here that have achieved that.
Maybe the '14 prices are now lower because the '15 is imminent.
I would say that many of the early owners would not have had much leverage to get a better deal. My deal was for an in stock car, so it would have been no wait.
I think anyone who pays over $82k drive away now for roof/HK is being ripped off or taking a hit for their trade.
Dealers pretend that you have not bargaining power, but you play hard ball and give them your price. I am sure you would get a deal,
I placed an order in Adelaide in January, received a call a fortnight ago, was told the earliest the car would arrive was September. Quick call to my broker and I was driving an SRT back from Melbourne to Adelaide 3 days later. Ridiculous that the dealerships won't speak to each other/transfer cars. Or that Jeep Australia won't give you an eta upon ordering. Good news is, I'm now in my new SRT!!
Why would you give up such a valuable commodity? Any dealer with an SRT in stock is not going to give it up, not even do another dealer in the same group.
Do not feel that way, as you are an early adopter and you pay for this privilege. I paid RRP on my CRD Overland as it was the first batch. I could have got a better deal if I got a Hemi, or bought it now. This is because dealers are more willing to do a deal, as they have better stock.
Just enjoy your car and do not regret the decision
When the dealership implies that eta will be 2-3 months, then at the 3 month mark tell you it's still 6 months away. I think they should do what they can to please a customer who has already placed an order and payed a deposit. Just me tho...
I understand that, what I am saying is that if you have a car that is very rare, so demand is far outstripping demand, why would give this to another dealer, in your case in a different state, and put yourself in the same position? That would be crazy, it gives them the ability to sell a car at full price because they can supply it immediately.
Ordered mine today in black, pano sun roof, HK audio and spider monkeys. By fluke chance they had one already on a ship with these options which will be delivered in 6 weeks. I guess I got lucky. I've got to questin some of the prices being quoted at around 80k. I know it's unfashionable in some peoples eyes to state what they payed for these cars but really...... 80k ......with those options....... Coooome oooon. Maybe for a demo but still.......coooome oooooon.
Yep! This is hard one, but all dealers got that surply an demand thing hedged differently. Here's what I mean, I give the dealer what I wanted, much the same order as you hammer time apart from different colour (granite) . Ok they don't have this srt with those options in stock. Anyway the price to order an wait for 5 mths comes to 87 grand. Ok, then another sales rep over hears the order an says "oh I know of a srt with those options sitting at one of our branches" where it was on order for another buyer who pulled out. This was offered to me, only thing missing was the spider monkey alloys, which is dealer fit accessory, my sales rep says no worries mate change the alloys for you no extra cost. Hang on this srt was for some one else, the sale price was still 87 grand, I don't think so! They think they were doing me a favour, as far I was concern I was doing them a favour by taking some one else's order off ther hands an giving them a quick sale. The price should have been reduce, there was no offer of that, I quietly turned to my sales rep " no thanks mate I'll order a new one an wait the 5 mths!
Thanks Marty k. I'm in Melbourne to. There is a new Jeep Dodge Chrysler dealership that has opened in Hawthorn and they had two black srt's in stock as of last Tuesday. I actually went there yesterday with the intention of buying one of them but they had both sold already on Friday. They were great to deal with compared to the arrogance I have experienced at other dealerships around Melbourne. Judging by the stock prices you have quoted I think they gave me really good deal to considering the options I got.
New dealership in Hawthorn,,, mmmmm. I have got 3 Melbourne dealerships on my radar but not Hawthorn. I'll have a look over there too.
In the past I have only personally dealt with 1 Jeep dealership and, yes, bunch of arrogant so an so's. But that was years ago so I'm hoping my next Jeep buying experience will be better. I reckon that I'm better prepared this time around thanks to this great site
I'm just trying to understand the Jeep (Aust) rationale as to how they can sell a fully optioned SRT for around $80K Drive Away or a stock SRT for that matter.
TOTAL = $83,070 ............for an SRT with no options and there is no $1,500 - $3,000 Dealer Deliver charge in that price either.
How do they do it? I know that somehow the dealer will fudge the numbers, but I'm interested in how. This knowledge would certainly help a new car buyer.
From a Quote I have:
SRT 66500
Towbar 1200
Dealer Delivery 895
Discount 3279.17 (they offered it without question)
Sub total 65,315.83
GST 6531.58
LCT 3459.42
Sub Total 75306.53
Stamp Duty (NSW) 2870
Rego NSW Biz 570
CTP 552
TOTAL 79298.83 drive away no more to pay
This was for a car in stock that had no options.
The $77k RRP includes all the taxes inc LCT and Stamp Duty. You can see that the based price is $66,500 for an SRT, so do not let dealers BS you by adding taxes to the RRP, it wrong and also illegal.
I will be buying a SRT from this dealer as they are the only ones who followed up and treated me like a client.
