Warranty Experiences?

I just picked up my '14 SRT and I've been looking at intakes and catback exhausts, but I wanted to see what the typical warranty experience has been among Jeep SRT owners.

In the past I had a Lancer Evolution and if you sneezed on the car or the wind blew the wrong way the dealers would void warranties. I then withheld the urge to mod my next 2 Jeeps, but the bug still lives within me.

So has anyone had any issues with simple bolt-ons? Or are the Jeep Service Departments a little more forgiving of said simple modifications?

A tune would get you in trouble but just wipe it and retune it after you leave the dealer. Simple bolts on shouldnt give you any trouble.

Re: Warranty Experiences?

Thanks for the input thus far! I spoke with the service advisor at the dealership I use and he said that as long as the mods are not directly related to the issue for which I'd be seeking warranty service, I should be fine.

My past experience with my Evo was that I had an intake and exhaust and suddenly my 4th gear synchro started to go bad (common issue with Evos). I brought my car in to the dealer and the Regional Service Manager voided my warranty because 'the stock transmissions were built to handle the factory rated horse power. By adding the intake / exhaust additional HP was generated thus the transmission cannot handle that additional load'...

So I countered asking why my stock clutch (with 30k+ miles on it) was still perfectly fine and the other synchros were fine. I asked him why a synchro would go bad as a result of additional HP versus my clutch starting to slip. He just said that my powertrain warranty is void, that he wouldn't discuss it with me any further, and then he hung up.

After I sold my Evo I heard that the Mitsubishi dealerships around me would actually go over the Evos with a fine tooth comb documenting ALL the mods they could find, then they'd report that information back to the Regional Service Manager, which in turn would result in voided warranties.

Being that my SRT is 2x the price of the Evo, I just dont want to risk warranty issues.

Re: Warranty Experiences?

All depends on the dealer honestly. Dealers around me turn a blind eye to mods. But I buy from them regularly so it's probably in their interest.
