Bad news man.. the dealer had my SRT for 2 weeks b4 they found one.. try to look up some dealerships in NY.. and your dealer can order it for you if they have it.
I found one in Virginia. I pay a little extra for the pump , but i found one. Here in PR every dealership and mopar store don't have it. They told me there are over 600 pump in back order nation wide. Crazy..
There was a time when rebuilt water pumps were common. Are they still available, even just to use until new ones are back in stock? If it was a matter of driving or parking the Jeep it might be a good choice.
Apparently this is still ongoing. My 14 SRT has been at the dealer going on its 3rd week now waiting on a water pump. Tried to see if they could use a reman unit, but they said since powertrain warranty is covering, they can only use OEM part.
I have a 5.7 and not an SRT, but just a couple weeks ago my dealer got FCA to approve installing an aftermarket water pump, to be replaced with an OEM when they become available.
edit: under the powertrain warranty. Invoice lists a NAPA part.
The problem is that it's under warranty, so the dealer has to go by what Mopar will let them do. I could of course use reman/3rd party pump, but then I'm out the $$ for it and the labor.
Ah, I thought you were replacing it yourself or having someone help you with it. Apparently their water pumps are shit, since they are out of stock, too many replacement, not enough. Yeah, you're out of luck on this one if you're using warranty, just have to wait it out.
Finally got it back yesterday. Talked to service advisor and he stated they did redesign the pump (cause or back order) due to higher than expected failure rates.
About a year ago I was having some issues with a dealership getting replacement parts for maxcare(the particular part is the 11-13 liftgate handle).
After 8 weeks I made a few calls through to Chrysler, and through to maxcare warranty fulfillment and the part is no longer in production, with no replacement part assigned to the vehicle. Although the 5.7 is obviously still in production, its possible that this specific water pump is no longer being produced.
That's the best guess I have to whats going on. It's obviously not realistic for them to discontinue a part without having a new part to replace it, but it certainly wouldn't be the first time it's been done to a vehicle less than 5-6 years ago.
Sorry to bring this thread back to life, I have an Australian Delivered 2013 Jeep GC SRT8 Vapor (pre facelift) and my water pump is on the way out.
Can anyone confirm if the water pump 5038677AD will fit the ''EXPORT" (RHD model) ... or if the export model has a different part all together? i checked with a for US Mopar sites and they advise based on my VIN that it should fit .. the only reason i ask is from a dealership in Australian they want $1800AUD for a water pump which is absolutely absurd!
Thanks in advance.
Mark.
