I think it would be a waste. The system is not designed to have the amount of adjustability as a custom system. I also think I heard that it was a closed system. I will have to look into it a bit more.

One great thing is that the location of the factory air tank is pretty awesome. Behind the rear seat but hidden in front of the spare tire well. Im not sure of the size though.

As always the cost of the factory components would outweigh the simplicity in using them. Seriously though....the rear setup would be simple.

You are reading my mind.. lol.

Since 14srt419 posted this thread, I've been thinking about how hard would it be to ditch the springs and replace then with air bags, retaining the Bilsteins as 14srt419 has done. But instead of lowering the vehicle, (but it would be a bonus), you could raise it about 2-3 inches above stock for the occasional off road venture..

I appreciate what people do with their rides, as it does give me ideas.. probably crazy ones..

Cheers..

That would be easy. Just taller bags.

Re: well she's on air.

Great build going on here... First the OEM parts to CF and now air...

Are the compressors loud at all, being that they are inside the truck while charging air?
And do you have pics of where you mounted the controller?

Great mod...

You can hear them but they are not to loud at all. this is where I mounted the controller for now. Haven't made up my mind where I want to put it yet.

Looks like it would fit nicely right in front of the USB/aux/SD card slot in the cubby below the AC controllers...

I'm aware that OEM cayenne turbos have them and I'm aware that users swear up and down by them, but at the end of the day IMO it's all about that look some prefer. The performance aspect is just something debated to try and justify the decision to people who look down on air suspension. After my experience with custom forged aftermarket wheels which are fairly simple systems, I'd never in a million years put an air system on a performance vehicle and that's if I actually liked them.

I get some people like the ghetto look so I'm sorry if any of you take my opinionated position personally. I have good friends who do and I clown on them daily. No harm intended
Race teams would never run air because the system is too heavy. There, good enough answer for you? Your definition of "doesn't hurt performance" is apparently "needs to be good enough for F1 racing".

It can easily be proven that a good air setup is equal to a good spring setup. All you are doing is replacing the coil springs with airbags, the shocks stay the same. Just like everyone on this site adding lowering springs which look cool and stiffen up the ride a bit. Airbags can effectively have the same spring rate as a coil, making it exactly the same suspension. But this dude can just raise the thing up whenever he wants and go offroading like a Jeep should, unlike all the lowered guys here.

Your sig certainly fits you. Sounds like you wouldn't be much fun to be friends with either.

Re: well she's on air.

Well well well...just when things were getting a little stale. I generally believe in the biblical reference of not throwing pearls before swine...but today, today my friend. I'm your Huckleberry

To the overall "argument" here I say this: Don't piss on me and tell me it's rain. The bottom line, a lot of people here like ghetto stuff. That's a fact. The issue arises is people want to have their cake and eat it too. Sorry, but no dice. If you like ghetto stuff, own up to it. Don't try to convince people it's not ghetto by understating the real reason you did it. Before the race baiters go insane, the term ghetto, while often applying to ethnic minorities, is not limited to any race. It's simply a term that applies to styles and things that originated with hoodrat people. Slamming cars on airbags starting in the hood.

I can't think of one OEM airbag setup that slams all the way to the ground and drags the bumper. Not one. Doing that is completely pointless and is 100% a look that people who like ghetto stuff like. Nothing wrong with that, I just like to point out that it's ghetto. If airbags were that effective (and reliable) of performance accessories race teams would surely find a way to make the benefits outweigh the costs. But no reason beating a dead horse...

Now on to the real gem. Being friends with me. You're absolutely correct, well except the part about it not being fun. I travel the world, I drink good liquor, smoke good cigars, shoot bad ass guns, and generally don't give a shit (outside of work of course). I've never been a joiner and I do not yearn for the approval of my peers like the masses do. I've always been an outlier and always will be. Fortunately there are people on this forum and others who are sharp enough to see through the persona. Quite a few people I've talked shit to on forums only to hit it off at the track. It's only the peanut brained simpletons who actually get upset by what I write and think "man **** that guy". Let's call it a system of weeding out the sub 130-140 IQ people...aka those people I don't wish to be friends with. I don't get along with peasants, so if you don't like me... well you get the gist...Now there's always a chance you are not a simpleton, and are in fact trolling the troll. In that case I say "touche", and "carry on!".

Now if you want to talk shit to me, please come shit in one of my threads. I've already shit in this poor guy's thread once, now it's twice. I really don't want to shit it up anymore.
