I'm a long time Corvette guy in addition to being a long time Jeep guy and I learned long ago to be a little patient with the latest and greatest Vette. It's fun to be first, but it can be VERY expensive. Better to add a little horsepower to the one in the garage and come back next year when supply outstrips demand a little bit.
I contacted 3 local dealerships via email. After 2 hours of back and forth, I locked in at $62,425 (MSRP 63,975) for a silver JC SRT8 with Lux 2, pano, SRT8 Sound, and towing package. One dealership was FIRM at $63,965. The 3rd dealership is bombarding me with spam.
How are you guys getting deals at or below invoice?
I just emailed every dealer by me CCd them all on the same email and told them what I was willing to pay and asked who wants to sell it to me. Simple as that, the next day I had my dealer and they have been great so far. 99% of car dealers are idiots, you just have to find the 1% that is not.
Sales tax is salt being poured in the wound for me. Looking at over 4K if I want a license plate here. As far a buying one of these with limited options....I wouldnt do it. Whats an extra 3-4K to get all the goodies after you are already dropping 60K + ?
Besides if and when you go and try to sell it people will be more likely to pass for a "speacial" GC that has barebones options. In other words, they're all damn near going to be the same price once they get used a little and have the shine knocked off of them. Weirdo's like us that make a stretch to take one down only to get laid off and soon finding out in 8-12 months time you are 9-15 grand upside down in the thing.
OK my dealer just called and told me after price protection, I'll be looking at $62,9XX. I told them I wasn't paying sticker and we went around in circles. I left it at I'll be up on Monday to discuss it.
Now I am in a awkward position, I want the Jeep but not for $68k OTD. I just feel like I am getting hosed here.
Edit: That price is loaded...Rear DVD, 3 Season, Tow...etc

You are in exactly the same situation as I will be. I want price protection at invoice, not sticker. The dealer will still make their 3% profit, even at invoice, right? If they won't budge, I won't buy. I really really want the car, but I think I've already gone way above and beyond pricewise to even consider paying price protection at invoice. I guess you can play to their sense of fairness (if a dealer is capable of feeling it), that it's already an exorbitant price at invoice.
To answer the question posed by the thread starter - My deal is at Invoice minus 1%. I ordered the vehicle in mid-June and have received confirmation from the dealer that they will honor the invoice amount on the Price Order Confirmation they printed for me on August 2nd.
In the interest of full disclosure my deal requires my trade-in at an amount that was agreed upon when I ordered the vehicle. The dealer is making his money on both ends (which is always the case with trade-in's). I agreed to the trade for a few reasons, one of them being how easy it will be to show up in my current car and leave with the Jeep. The other dealers I spoke to would give me more for my trade but were also asking for MSRP or higher on the Jeep.
$55.966 before tax price protected, SRT high performance audio, Trailer tow group IV, Luxury group II, Rear DVD entertainment center, I am getting it at EP pricing and my dealer just told me 2 days ago that none of the SRT are no longer available at EP pricing after Aug 10.
Just got back from my dealer, the red one came in today at 1:45pm. I'll provide my feedback later tonight or tomorrow AM.
I will leave these two comments though:
1. This is definitely not a $70k vehicle........or $65k vehicle......or maybe even a $60k vehicle.....$55k is probably appropriate if well optioned out. (not because of build quality, just the overall look/feel/presence)
2. IMO, Deep Cherry Red Crystal Pearlcoat will not be offered long. I apologize to those who are waiting for theirs, but I want to provide an honest opinion to the entire community: the color does nothing for the vehicle, especially with the anthracite colored wheels, even when the sun was on it. The color is not "red", it's maroon.
I too was not a fan of that Deep Cherry Red. When I saw that color on the SRT Jeep at the NYAS, I was disappointed. Not the red I was expecting. The red I love is Inferno Red or maybe they should take a page out of BMW's book and offer the same red they offer with the X5M and X6M. I loooovvveee that red.
Anyways, I cant wait to test drive one of these bad boys when it hits my local dealer!
the auto show truck was deep molten red. But no idea how much difference n the two. Ive seen the deep cherry on othe vehicles and Grand Cherokees on here and it only looked maroonish in shade and low light to me.....not in bright sunlight. http://jeepgarage.org/showthread.php?t=28406&highlight=deep+cherry+red
