I see... Possibly they sent you the wrong part? Surely for $3k they can answer that question. I think the black tips look rad though!

What did you do to your WK2 SRT today?

Mate that exhaust is loud in open mode , someone posted here before about Release The Kraken lol , they weren't joking .The exhaust in closed mode is still loud but has a awesome note coming out the back , been driving around most of the day and it just turns heads everywhere I go in closed mode, in open mode My God Mt Doom has exploded or erupted hehe.

After the install finished and we started it up in open mode I had about 25 mechanics walk over from the other shops to see what the hell the noise was , the jeep service complex is next to and across the street to Subaru , Nissan, Mercedes ,Kia ,Hyundai it's all one big complex but a couple are across the road anyway they we're gob smacked how loud it was , and I have some photos of it

Also the mechanics and service managers were there taking out there mobile phones and recording it , they asked if it was ok I said no uploading to bloody Facebook or film my number plate please because the cops see this I'm a marked man lol . Dam that's loud and fun too but the loss of power is terrible in open mode I reckon at least 20 to 25% loss in horsepower , it's even worse in launch control . When in launch in closed mode it still throws you in the seat but open mode is pure shit , open mode is just there to show off nothing more . I had 2 mechanics in the car with me on the back roads they were blown away how bad it was in open mode on launch .

I'm going to see how this goes over the next 2 weeks otherwise it's up for sale , but for what it's worth in closed mode operation it sounds beautiful and this is the way a V8 should sound like it's really thick and lumpy and NOT raspy in closed mode. I also would like to point out to that even when I had my old exhaust on with the X pipe mod I did after removing the original suitcase on the car I lost about 100 klm distance with mpg . And I was ever so babying the car on the accelerator to see how much it affected my mpg . So now I have the GTHaus I will see how I go for mpg now ,and yes I will be driving ever so slowly to see how much I have lost .

And I understand when you buy a car like this you don't pay much attention to mpg but I like to compare for myself after I do mods on the car the pros and cons of things but I must say there's a reason they put that suitcase on the car and it's perfectly tuned these SRT of ours so I'm really considering going back to stock for the exhaust, better launch control and mpg ,but that's my opinion and at the end of the day for me it's a beautiful luxury car with a nice donk and more than enough HP for the roads. Oh and did I say my wife hates the car now LOL she won't get in now the noise is to loud in the car ,lucky she has her own car :-)

I also sent a email to Rob from the makers of the GTHaus System to ask why the big loss with launch or without launch in open mode on WOT ? The only thing I don't have is a CAI yet mines still stock , anyone else here on JeepGarage care to comment on this with there GTHaus systems ?? .. And I haven't received a answer back from Rob yet from GTHaus

Hey mate - how's things?

I'm near Mandurah (but in the decent side of town where crackpipes are frowned upon )

Might have to trot up before the new girl is delivered & check yours out brother - did you get the remote with your 'Haus ????
Not too sure whether I want to use this open mode , rather have the power & no yellow / red stickers from mister plod

Re: What did you do to your WK2 SRT today?

Well like I said for me personally my car had run bad in open mode ? it even had a bad flat spot on WOT doing it manually but on launch control it just took off not even throwing me back in the seat and made a whole lota noise which it is suppose to do in Open Mode .And I have done this consistence over about 8 launches and 2hrs of driving then back on it again in Launch Mode still same results but early days yet I suppose

Why put it into Open Mode because its there and wanted to see the results and the loudness and to test the Wireless Remote Control Unit , the Open Mode in my eyes is just to show everyone how bloody awesome the car sounds at the lights but I no for a fact the cops wont let anyone here cruise in QLD with that noise lol

I might be wrong about the 20 to 25% loss it might be 10 to 15% loss in Open Mode I am only going on what the 2 mechanics in the car were saying when we were testing it in manual mode and by hitting the launch control button , I ask the leading head mechanic about a tune he said don't waste your money you wont gain much because the Jeeps are hard to Tune because of there software is hard to break into unlike to Holden Commodores or Fords which can easily bypass software to do a full custom Tune

Like I said Ill give it 2 weeks or 3 weeks see how it goes and will sell it if I don't like it . I kept me old just in case , but this is just my personal opinion on whole thing and I would love to hear what other members think who own the GTHaus Systems

Re: What did you do to your WK2 SRT today?

Bottom lineis that this is exactly the food I needed on the 'Haus system Max - hard one because I like the idea of remote operated Bi-modal exhaust , just that I know the wallopers over here will force feed their peckers to me within a month without a doubt in the open/bypass mode

Might have to suss out mister GT Haus's options with the GTC or find love elsewhere before I throw the ( considerable amount of ) coin at this puppy

Geeez what a head feck

Re: What did you do to your WK2 SRT today?

Again mate it's just my 2.cents worth , and it's early days yet but Milesy told me it gets louder with time and he's from QLD , Jesus it's loud now lol , anyone here on the forums from WA that has this system that you could go and listen before you buy ? .. And I don't mean to turn you off but in close mode it performs really good in fact I read someone say it pulls harder in closed mode I do agree with that . But the sound is pure V8 evil in close mode it's so deep and loud and at WOT it awesome

In close mode it seems to pull a lot harder I didn't save any times on my SRT pages but I still have my original personal best saved so I will test against that time soon and also post some pics in open mode performance on the SRT pages

I am in Armadale and I run with the exhaust closed or partly open I have the remote switch for this. If going through the Graham Farmer tunnel I have it fully open. As said elsewhere I get plenty of comments on how good it sounds. I've also done the suspension, rims tyres CAI de-chromed, among other things. As long as you don't go stupid at street lights you are left alone. I can meet you somewhere if you want.
