Re: What did you do to your WK2 SRT today?

Maxy - Great write up. Can't wait to see your launch times in closed mode. Will tell you this, the Injen CAI is awesome and a bargain. I can't see how any other CAI except for the BWoody True CAI can match it. I'll have to find a place without Commodores around and actually do a Launch. I took my wife out for her birthday last night and she noticed how much louder it was and how much more beastly it was. Now about the Jeep....

CLS et al - with the new springs, I know you get better handling around corners and such but what about overall comfort in say Auto mode compared to stock? Do you feel every bump or is the ride more luxurious? It would be great to get the best of both worlds.

I now have a combination of blackops end links and eibach springs. The springs came first and honestly any increase in bumpiness was negligible. My wife would have surely mentioned it!! Now with the combination the only change I feel is even more flatness in turns and better steering response.

I heard the road magnets ride better than the eibachs but I wasn't ready to go that low.... Yet.

I just realized I haven't even tested my end links in sport or track mode! What the hell am I thinking. Will report back...

What did you do to your WK2 SRT today?

Okay I have found the problem with my GTHaus exhaust and I feel like a bit of a dick for two reasons first I am tone deaf in one ear and didn't pick up that one side of the exhaust was open and the other side was closed my wife could hear the difference not me , and to be clear they were both open when tested in the shop . So I climbed underneath the car and sure enough the connection had come loose.

The problem was the mechanic and me were doing different sides , I no I twisted my side together and the side he has done he must have just pushed in and didn't realise you had to twist the caps to lock it in ? Anyway it's all good now and fixed . Now for the second part for being a dick is that I thought when you pressed down on the button on the remote to open or close the valves they just open or closed , I never new that you could adjust how much you can open or close the valve buy holding in the buttons on the remote in.

I've never had these valves before so it was all new to me I'm from the old school ways where you just throw on a set of extractors and mufflers and a way you go . So again I did launch still loss of power at launch but starts to build up and go and I wasn't getting a flat spot in the throttle now which is good . But the sound now in closed mode is simply Awesome even thou I'm tone deaf lol . To many years underground with machinery and drilling , anyway I'm glad the loss of power has been reduced in open mode and no more dead spots on launch in open mode either , will post some SRT pages soon

Put my Borls S-Type on. I love this exhaust. Not in you face but very deep and throaty. Exactly what I was after.

Also had the Transmission TSB done and the difference is incredible to be honest. If you feel your gear changes are not up to scratch for a $90k AUD car then get this done, you will not be disappointed.

I think that the endlinks may be my first mod...sounds like they offer the best bang for the buck in the handling department (not that the SRT probably doesn't already handle great to begin with).

Nice one. Any videos on the borla?
Did you just do the tranny tsb through warranty at the dealer?

I haven't done a video yet on the exhaust but there are heaps on YouTube

And the transmission TSB was done under warranty.

Re: What did you do to your WK2 SRT today?

Okay I received a email reply from Rob at GTHaus Exhaust about the loss of power and here's his explanation :
Hello John

Hope all is well , thank you for the e-mail I enjoyed reading it. I am glad that you are enjoying your Jeep SRT8 with our American Roar Racing exhaust.
As for the your loss of power you are experiencing let me explain in detail. Our exhaust has a larger diameter in piping 76mm to be exact.
With the larger diameter piping on a natural aspirated vehicle under 2500 rpm you will experience minimal torque loss. We suggest driving 2500rpm and under in closed mode.
The fun starts at 3000 rpm with your vehicle in open mode and continues up to redline. If you have questions regarding our GT HAUS products please do not hesitate to contact me anytime.....

Anyway I thought I would share to see what other GTHaus owners thought or other members of the Jeep community :-)
