What did I do to my WK2 SRT today...?

Well, first things first, I took delivery of my new truck!!! Which was something I was looking forward to since ordering back in... March!

Debadged front and sides by the dealer before applying a teflon wax.

What a change from my WK1. The 8-speed gearbox is amazing, and I need to spend some time setting up a couple of things on the EVIC and the Uconnect and finding out about what command does what on those headlights (not sure exports are the same as the ones sold in the US... we'll see).

The interior is such an improvement over my '07, and the truck being so much quieter, I get to speeds I would not expect to reach without a lot more noise...

First mods will be underhood appearance and catch can (orange, from Billet Tech) and a full set of weathertech floor and cargo mats. Probably a couple of LED bulbs too

I am already eyeing towards changing the exhaust and maybe an Injen CAI, but this will be after the break-in period.

Oh, and I need to change my signature and avatar!

Congrats on the new car! and I hope your export version isn't the same as the ones we have here in the middle east, you probably still wont get the full Uconnect functionality (xm radio, media apps and the uconnect remote start feature), but I hope you can at least adjust the DRL settings to how you want them
looking forward to the pictures, don't keep us waiting too long lol

Thanks all!!
I do believe they are the same as in the Middle East. The only app I have is the Performance Pages. But without built-in connectivity, there is not much more that I expect. At least the Performance pages came pre-loaded (I seem to remember JDR8 didn't have them, in Canada). No remote-start either, which is to be expected in Europe (where I believe it is somehow illegal).

DRLs: so far my observations are from the reflection in other car's rear bumper... so not very reliable. :D It seems the bumper LED "bar" is on as DRL, but not the headlight halo. I tried to activate the parking lights but it did nothing... and later, with lights on "Auto", the natural light having decreased a bit, the parking lights icon came on (on its own) and I believe I reached the holy grail of driving with LED "bars" and "halos" at the same time. I will need to tinker more with these.

Weather is crap for pictures, I should be able to take some tomorrow.

Oh, and despite a thorough check upon delivery, it's only when I was at home that I noticed that on both tail lights, the inner portion (mounted on the liftgate) is the non-SRT bright chrome version... So it will go back to the dealer at some point, soon.
Strangely, on "settings/lights" I cannot get the box to stay ticked to get the headlights to follow the steering... so the dealer will need to have a look at this too.

let it cool....removed the 2 bolts and changed it quickly...very quickly...LOL.
Then I just started it with the cap off and each time the level dropped I filled it until it stopped. very easy and took 10 minutes.

I also FINALLY got my half covers and fuse box cover back....just installed those as well. Grille rings and the 2 lower rings should be here tomorrow.(fingers crossed) LOL! Been 3 months!!!!!

Is this necessary? Ever since I changed get my water neck and t stat my coolant keeps going down to about 2 inches in the tank. I fill it up and it goes back down to the same place. Could this be why?

I got a rock ding on my windshield yesterday  Heard it, never saw it, wasn't around a damned thing. Today (since this is what you did today), it decided to show itself by creeping across the lower driver corner. The ding is a tiny little thing right on the edge of the glass.

I suppose a replacement windshield will be my next mod

Got my Injen CAI and my drilled and slotted rotors installed. The rotors looks great, a little better performance, hopefully will cut down on the brake dust. The CAI is outstanding, it sounds deep and the like everyone before me has said, the the throttle response is now instant. Best mod for $300 and change IMO!!

I got my TB back from thefastman, installed it, and connected up the BWoody CAI. It sounds like there's a Hoover on the front of my truck. Currently working on a washer fluid tank alternative as the one in the CAI kit leaves much to be desired. Also picking my Borla ATAK up from the powder coater tonight.

I took the vinyl off my hood last night. I think I am much more satisfied with it now.

Productive day today;

Installed Hawk Performance Ceramic pads all around. I'm very happy, a bit less initial bite at slow speeds (a good thing since the stock pads were grabby) with a very linear feel, virtually no dust and quiet as a church mouse, BIG SMILES.

Note to those installing Hawk pads, you will need to remove the low pad feeler tab on the inside front pad. The factory pads only have the feeler on the outside pad and if you don't remove it in the inside pad it won't drop all the way in. Hawk delivers 4 identical pads so 2 need to be modified.

Replaced rock hard, worn out 4 season Pirelli's (at 14,500 miles!) with General Grabber UHP's. All but one took no more than 1 oz of weight, the lone outlier took 2 oz, I can live with that.

The ride is a marked improvement. It's not soft by any stretch of the imagination but it took the harshness away. I can now feel the difference between Auto, Sport and Track where before sport was barely different than Auto (track is always noticeable). Slight road noise over some types of pavement that the Pirelli's didn't have but it's low pitched and blends in with the exhaust rumble. All the tram-lining and dartiness I noticed as the Pirelli's wore is gone!

Handling, The steering response is slightly less instant but again, not sloppy like the Parada's were on my Overland. Initial turn is is very linear, there is no feeing like you are loading up the sidewall that I was fearing again, after my experience with the Parada's. Grip is very linear up to the limit. Of course, as expected, with full tread vs. the 20% left on the Pirelli's the absolute cornering force is down a bit, probably about .05G but I didn't take my G-Tech so I don't know the absolute numbers.

All in all I'm pretty happy with them at at $680 OTD with installation and all the rebates I thrilled.

Tomorrow is an alignment and next week into the dealer for TSB's (trans, transfer case, remote start and radio).

Installed the Borla ATAK Axleback... Too easy. Just jacked it up, borrowed an exhaust cutter from AutoZone, chopped the pipes, swore at the hangers until they gave up the goods, and popped the the new cans in. I was only under the truck for about an hour.

It's been said many times before, and everyone was right. The ATAK really isn't that much louder than stock until you really stuff your foot into it. It's just throatier, with a deep rumble. I spent about an hour on the highway last night and the change in tone when the MDS kicks in is about equal to stock.

Now to throw some money at Toona...
