The 300 has pretty plain looking wheels. There is one on eBay. I heard there is an eight sipped coming in a magazine. Don't understand why they don't use the manual from the challenger in the other 2. Saw a charger in person and it's pretty nice.

They talk to Chryco people that they know from our spring flings. The 8 speed is inevitably coming.....it fits as is in the transmission tunnel per a lead SRT engineer I spoke with. I think they will debut it in about two years on the srt.

When I spoke to the people at the SRT High Performance Tour on October 12 they said that the Track Experience is getting their 2012 fleet in a couple of weeks. I'm assuming between now and 1st week in Nov.

Most of the people on the LX site are staying away from them now b/c they can't be tuned. The majority of people over there on that site are gearheads.

Here's what I find amusing about that issue - the same folks would buy a vehicle with a 6.1L that is, to some extent, "tunable", so that they could gain 20, 30, 40hp or whatever. But they would not buy an "untunable" 6.4L that comes from the factory with the additional 40-50hp??

Re: what is demand like for the other 3 2012 SRT8's?

The reception for the new gen 300 and Charger has been mediocre at best. Back in 2005 when the 1st generation models came out the enthusiasm level was immensely higher. Message boards were far more active, with endless thousands of posts. The 300C SRT8 was especially popular, they built more than 10,000 for the 2006 model year. The Charger, Magnum and Jeep were also very well received and flew off of dealer lots.

Enthusiasts don't seem to be real keen on the new SRT styling. As with the new Jeep, many feel that they have lost their aggressiveness and uniqueness. Charger fans have been unhappy with the "fish mouth" "EVO" front end as well as not liking the side styling. Everyone, of course, loves the new 8.4" radios with the outstanding performance pages screens. It's still early in the model year to draw any conclusions as to how well the new Charger and 300 will do, but from what I see the level of enthusiasm is on the low side.

The Challenger is still in its 1st generation, although nearing its end. It is due for a refresh or restyle for the 2014 model year. Meanwhile, the 6.4 Challenger is maintaining its own and is selling reasonably well.

how long was it before the "tune" was unlocked on the first gen's? 2 years? All these "gearheads" want to trash the current gen owners, potential owners and cars over tuning...when they were in the same boat as current owners back then. Can you say hippocrits?

Re: what is demand like for the other 3 2012 SRT8's?

^Exactly. I have been on the LX forums from day one in 04. We had no tuning for the first gen for a couple of years. Back then GS Motorsports was supercharging them and blowing them up with piggyback tuning.

Milous hit it on the head. However, this is because they honestly do not photograph well. I drove them all back in March and in person, the lines actually look very good. This is coming from a guy who hated it in person. I think once sema comes, and a few nice ones come out, the popularity will grow.

Chrysler's "Fatchance 2" promo is crap. They are paying for the car and modifications, but the choices in mods are junk. They expected this to boost it's popularity among us car guys, but honestly, the guys who really mod on the forum are not impressed. Only the sheep follow it and praise it.

Another holdback is the lack of options available now. The leather add-on and black chrome option for the srt8 is still late availability, as is the executive package.
