I just got off the 'instant chat' and 'Frank' told me that they are working on it now and he doesn't know what it will look like. Either a new piece or a whole new part. That might just be lip serviced, I don't know.

Re: What Radar Detector is everyone using?

I got my passport max today and with the 45 minutes of driving I did with it I was very impressed. Very quick and advanced alarm of police vehicles. It popped off for every red light camera in the city. It did not have any false alarms like my other passport did. It is slick looking with the new colored screen. I will give another review over it in a week or so once I am able to use it more. If you are looking for a detector I would jump on board.

Valentine One does require the user thinking to analyze threats, but it is a superior detector. Why you may ask? The arrows. A radar is worthless to me without them. Worthless.

10+ years with one V1, $10,000 in tickets avoided is a conservative estimate. I used to average 100+MPH between some common cities in Mexico with a 2-4 hour driving distance. My uncle who travels a 3 hour routine and has a $2k top of the line escort system with laser jamming is on the verge of losing his license. The most common culprit? Cops sneaking up from behind.

Also, it wasn't until the past few years that the other brands were able to equal and eventually beat the unbelievable range of the V1. Until they get directional areas, they are crap to me.

One more thing, once you've had the V1 for a month you should easily be able to identify "false" alarms. I can with 100% accuracy. My brain automatically disregards them. I'd much rather have a false alarm and judge myself then have a computer discount a "false" alarm that turns out to be real.

Re: What Radar Detector is everyone using?

Passport 9500ix with Performance Package mirror mount. Running Escort Live service on iPhone with direct wire smartcord (all mostly hidden around rear view mirror). I'll post pic later.

PerformancePackage.com

I may look at switching to the Passport Max when a good mount is made and more people review it. So far the 9500ix has saved my bacon many, many times and works like a charm. The GPS lockout (locks out false signals seen several times) works very well. I drive 5 to 6 hours each month on long trips and it has memorized just about all of the false signals along the way in town (Kansas City, Saint Louis) and on the highway.

I don't need to see where the cop is (Valentine) since the ticket cost the same amount, LOL. I do understand why some would want to know, but for me, I just need to know that radar is hitting me and locking out false signals is great since my 9500ix is mostly silent (unlike a Valentine).

Re: What Radar Detector is everyone using?

Interesting video about the Passport Max missing I/O alerts when in auto mode.

Quick question for you guys I don't mean to take this off topic but I'm wondering if the JGC adaptive cruise control or the collision warning system would make a radar detector throw false alerts? Either being in the jeep or one coming down the road at you.

Not that I have seen. Some lane departure systems like in the MDX can set off some detectors.

It can throw off your K band. But the new max has a TSR setting which cancels out the false alerts from the collision center. My last passport I had to turn off K band which didn't matter bc I never have police using k band in the DFW metroplex.

Here is a quick video I threw together tonight and mid way through I show what the new Passport Max looks like in use.

Re: What Radar Detector is everyone using?

I have the 9500ci and really like it. No tickets and I've had it for 3.5yrs. In that time I have driven more than 75k miles (I'm a travel nurse) through the east coast and now in California. Obviously I can't say that it has saved me from a ticket but I like to think so. It's not currently mounted in my Vapor SRT8 but will eventually...
