Re: What Radar Detector is everyone using?

I've been running a 9500ix with Escort Live for a while. Live was getting better, but recent updates have rendered it pretty much worthless. A great concept, however.

I've got a 9500ci in my 535xi. Nice and stealthy, but the limitation is in the aging laser jammers; they're simply not up to the latest threats.

I'm pretty sure, though, that I'm going to go back to my V1 (after I update to the most recent version). There's just no beating the combination of range and intelligent reporting offered by the V1. Those who claim it's 90's technology are apparently unaware of the fact that Valentine follows a path of continuous improvement, while keeping the same exterior package. V1 owners can upgrade (at a cost) as long as they own their unit.

The GPS filtering of the Escort units is nice if you do a lot of urban driving, and the V1 can admittedly be a pain in the neck with its constant alerts, but if you're doing a fair amount of rural/interstate driving, where distance and overall situational awareness are key, then the V1 still trounces the others.

Re: What Radar Detector is everyone using?

I have 2 V1's...one for each car. I have tried the passport models, but the lack of arrows and directional feedback makes the unit worthless. If you REALLY dislike false alarms, just disable K and X bands. Its a little bit of a risk, but most police use Ka and Laser and the V1 works perfectly scanning for these two modes and there are almost no false alarms.
