I highly expect there to be no changes except for maybe pricing structure. This model year they are simply fighting to complete all builds ordered and work out quality kinks. I would imagine the second year, 2013, would consist of producing the identical vehicle at a more efficient and "normal" pace.
I could see price structure changing. IMO, I think they will make the Lux 2 and SRT Audio a standard feature, and bump the base/MSRP pricing accordingly. If I were them, that's what I would do. Removing the ordering constraint and allowing customization of all choices again makes their build process more difficult....very rarely do large companies add things that make production/logistics more costly/timely.
Agreed - don't think they will make that many changes from the 2012. They just retooled for the 2012 and they won't do anything drastic and change the plant to accommodate after just one model year.
I think Milous even said at one point the 2013 wouldn't even see the 8inch touch screen as in the 300. If they can't even change an infotainment center I doubt they will change a transmission etc.
Good info. Just trying to make a buying decision here in the next 9 months. Ok, so it seems no major stuff...I know that stuff was floating around out there just was not sure when/if it will land. Maybe LED tail lights?
Exactly. I am in a holding pattern. Not sure if there will be a V version of the ATS. I was more interested in the wagon. I guess that gives me more time to look and save but then I start to go all over the map. Looked at a 2007 GT3RS the other day...no back seats though and I don't need another 911. Audi can't seem to make up their mind on the RS4...whether it is or isn't going to be at all, and/orcoming to US or not, and why not try to train US buyers with wagons? Bring over the RS4 Avant and we will be a wagon nation. The C63 is rather sedate/no stick...no more M3 Sedan and the M5 looks bloated. GT-R has too much lag (don't care for turbos)...dunno.
I'm not saying it's not something to be curious about, but don't let it dictate what you want because the grass may possibly, based on speculation of what may come, be greener on the other side. If you like it, buy it...otherwise we would all be in an endless holding pattern because historically things get better. I bought a '11 Shelby GT500 which was better than the 2010 because it had an aluminum block instead of cast iron and upgraded suspenstion. The 2010 was better than the 2008, etc. Now the 2013 is going to have a bigger SC and bored out to a 5.8 over the 5.4 putting out 650 HP. Do I regret buying the '11? Nope, it's a beast of a car. Would I like to have a '13? Of course, but I'd have 2 years of owning a 550HP Mustang and enjoyed every minute of it instead of waiting saying I'm waiting to see what's next. Then the 2013 will come out and there will be rumors of a bigger, badder package.
I've heard the 2013 will have a modified 8 speed for the Hemi with a very tall cruising 9th gear, which will bring the MPG to near 29 MPG on the highway for a zero payload GC (no passengers or driver). I've also heard that a 3rd and possibly 4th row seating could be added, but the 4th row will only be functional with the tailgate open. The new Jeep R-Mote will enable owners to adjust the radio stations or DVD player while at work or even 500 miles away, though this will only be available on the new JGC Upper Overland Summit Crest models which will come with two donuts instead of a full spare. Two donuts will usually get you a spare tire anyway. The JGC Laredo DIY X will come with a raw wood interior, allowing owners to varnish or stain as they wish. Of course the big news will be the new ASTS (Adaptive Slap Threat System) which may not be politically correct, but should keep badly behave kids in line when the RDE, LES or PIS systems fail to do their job.
Seriously....we're going to wait for the 2013 models. The bottom line is we'll want the newer car or a 2012 at a lower price....and that'll be the deal come summer!
In reality I trust and hope Jeep and SRT make any changes needed to keep them competitive and ahead of the pack.
Definitely remember having my '06 and then seeing all the neat new things that '07 and beyond brought... New touchscreen nav, backup camera, new interior, performance pages on the EVIC...remote start (Chuckle)..
Expect a similar series with the new one, and I wouldn't trade it for the 6-12 months that I'll have with my WK2, before that even starts to begin.
That's what I've seen as well. It's about time they incorporate them and catch up in that area of vehicle technology. It would be sweet to see those rear fog/reflectors as LED's.
I kinda relate car choices to tv's. Yes cheaper but still a pain in the ass to pull the trigger. I was set on a LED tv for months and ended up going w/ a plasma after seeing them side by side. Never thought I'd do that.
Still deciding between cts-v, camaro zl1, or wk2. Just gotta make a decision before Im 80 and cant drive anyway haha
I just want to know if the 8.4" UConnect Touch is going in the 2013 GC's. Only thing holding me back from picking up a 2012 immediately. It would kill me to find out in 2 months that they are upgrading to the new electrical systems...
Yeah I am kinda in the middle too - CTS-V/Sedan/Wagon is on the list, WK2, ZL1, Cobra, 911....bottom line is I need some utility with 3 kids but with all these cars there are drawbacks. I guess waiting gives more time for downpayment...each one has pluses and drawbacks.
I was at the Rolex 24 and saw the WK2 in person for the first time - pretty impressive. I rented a a Camaro SS and while it has power and was fast...I expected a little more. Also small as hell and no utility (this was a convertible) but I don't see the coupe being much better.
Anyway - I just wish the Jeep had a little more power and some of the new features of the othe SRT8 models and it would be a slam dunk.
Who uses these anymore? Sat radio, Aux inputs, USB, iPod hookup, in dash hard drives, and Bluetooth audio streaming. I haven't touch a CD in years lmao. It's a digital age and the disc is becoming obsolete. That's just my opinion.
I've got over 250 unabridged audiobooks and still buying. I've become addictted to these as my driving entertainment even though I have XM radio. I realize that they could be downloaded but it would be nice to just pop in 6 at a time like I currently do with my 04 Rainier
Order banks open at the end of June (approx) for 2013 models. Per the resident expert, which is also inline for typical order bank in years past, IIRC....So, info should be pretty concrete by then at the latest.
