Re: Wheel bearings

What does it sound like. I have a load noise coming from both sides at the back that sounds terrible. It gets louder as the speed increases. My car has not done 1300km's.

Why not service it ? It's still under warranty right ?

Re: Wheel bearings

I did have my fronts replaced already believe it was around 25000 km or so (under warranty of course).

Re: Wheel bearings

I had the left front replaced with a few thousand miles on the Jeep. The dealer had to order the part, but once it came in I only had time for one cup of coffee before they had it ready.

Interesting. What were the symptoms of the bearing failure?

Re: Wheel bearings

It was a metallic noise that varied with road speed. I confirmed that putting the car in neutral and revving the engine at 45 mph made no difference. But, as the Jeep coasted slower and slower the pitch changed.

I spoke to the tech before he got to the Jeep. He went once around the block and said he agreed.

Re: Wheel bearings

I'd love to get mine fixed but they've been broken for about 6000 miles and I've taken it in 6 separate times only for them to tell me everything looks good. This last time they told me the loud noises coming from the front wheels were because my tires had 28000 miles on them and they were totally balled. I replied "Huh, that's funny. I changed them 2 months ago." So now I have to drive to another dealer in another state to have them fix the problem. How about that for service?

I think I would have gone to a different dealer long before 6 visits for the same problem. How far is the next closest dealer? The fact that it is across a state line is immaterial to anything.
