Re: Who else is kind of scared to see the 2014 SRT??

im sorry but all of this 2014 talk is getting quite annoying. i dont understand why people are nit picking this vehicle. there is way too many posts on how everyone hates this 2014 with the audi lights and blah blah blah... who cares! if you decide when it comes out that you dont care for it, then dont buy one plain and simple. stop beating the crap out of it.

i understand that, my rationality comes from the Chyrco's move to separate SRT from the rest, thus having specialized techs and tools to work on these vehicles who are running the same drivetrain, suspension, brakes etc. Not saying that the SRT is better than the other variants but that being said it is designed for strictly on-road performance rather than off-road like every other jeep model is why i can see two performance variations of the SRT jeep. SRT will never design a completely separate SUV it doesn't make logical sense but when it take a Jeep platform and does it's magic to transform it into a track machine, it is truly a Street and Racing Technology vehicle. since it no longer is capable of doing what a Grand Cherokee can do and it does what a Grand Cherokee is not capable of doing.

So they dumped the CF interior trim for 2014 SRTs?

Re: Who else is kind of scared to see the 2014 SRT??

That information concerns me. In the engineering world that would be the contingency plan for "we are having too many problems with the supplier meeting schedule/suppliers cost/quality/failure rate so we are moving in a different direction during next spiral development."

This leads me to believe that the statement provided regarding the warping issue being solved, does not have buy in across the board that it will stop the issue in years to come. These pieces really concern me due to cost. Trade in or private sale will be effected later in life if you try to get rid of the vehicle with warped or no new pieces. And if you choose to replace them, they are a sharp dagger to the wallet (piece above glove box very prone to warping is almost $600).

I know GM had to dump the CF insert in the ZL1 hood because they could not get acceptable quality and scheduling from their supplier last year. Many ordered it, but only the first 150 or so got it, then GM placed it on indefinite hold. Last I knew the 2013's did not have it available either.

Speaking of the ZL1, I probably would have ended up with one of those if I could get it out of my driveway in the winter

Yep, mine was to for 8 months. Then it showed a little sign of fatigue, and a month or so later my wife went out to the truck and the entire piece was hanging to the floor only attached by a small tab near the vent. My truck was always in a drywalled, insulated garage with no windows and is fairly cool (90 outside is low 70's in the garage).
