What a change of emotions :)

Is anyone else kind of scared now to see what the actual 2014 SRT will look like? I was pretty stoked about the updates and am still very happy with the interior updates (minus not having CF accents), but after the recent photos that were posted.......I have to admit, I am worried.

I guess I will just have to wait to see what comes. I can only hope that I am pleased and surprised. I am just having a hard time picturing how they can make the 2014 look aggressive from what we have seen posted recently.

Am I alone in thinking this?

I don't know what people are expecting but the changes will be pretty minor. Probably a new front and rear facia (bumper) with different tail lights (probably LED), a mildly redesigned dash to fit the larger infotainment system and shifter stalk and probably new wheels. 90% of the vehicle will remain the same.

I'm sure it will look just as "aggressive" as the current model.

bighemi-some spy pics have been released of a test mule and the masses are freaking out....LOL. Differet headlamps, tails and hatch. the front bumper and grille have also had a makeover.

I disagree, because I think the MSRP on something like that will be somewhere north of $70K. That gets people all fired up then when they realize they don't have the cash our used, wimpy 470HP versions start to look a whole lot better.

do the sc'ed versions of otherspecial edition vehicles effect the lower models? No...IMHO. The Sc'ed 6.2 will be a special edition...not stock as of now.

im thinking it will be something similar to the Viper. you have your base and then your GTS. Since SRT is its own brand now having two variations of the same SRT vehicle doesn't sound too ridiculous. If you look at AMG they have their AMG and then they have a AMG Performance Plus, along with Porsche they offer their Turbo and then they offer their Turbo S.

It's not two variations. It's a Jeep Grand Cherokee and there are like 10 variations (Laredo, Laredo X, Limited, Overland, Overland Summit, Altitude, Trailhawk, SRT8, SRT8 Alpine, SRT8 Vapor). Until SRT produces it's own SUV instead of using the Jeep Grand Cherokee, then they'll truly be their own brand. As it is now the 2013 Viper is the only true SRT. Sorry, but a pet peeve of mine. You drive a Jeep Grand Cherokee with bigger engine, better brakes, and different styling.

i understand that, my rationality comes from the Chyrco's move to separate SRT from the rest, thus having specialized techs and tools to work on these vehicles who are running the same drivetrain, suspension, brakes etc. Not saying that the SRT is better than the other variants but that being said it is designed for strictly on-road performance rather than off-road like every other jeep model is why i can see two performance variations of the SRT jeep. SRT will never design a completely separate SUV it doesn't make logical sense but when it take a Jeep platform and does it's magic to transform it into a track machine, it is truly a Street and Racing Technology vehicle. since it no longer is capable of doing what a Grand Cherokee can do and it does what a Grand Cherokee is not capable of doing.

im sorry but all of this 2014 talk is getting quite annoying. i dont understand why people are nit picking this vehicle. there is way too many posts on how everyone hates this 2014 with the audi lights and blah blah blah... who cares! if you decide when it comes out that you dont care for it, then dont buy one plain and simple. stop beating the crap out of it.

So they dumped the CF interior trim for 2014 SRTs?

That information concerns me. In the engineering world that would be the contingency plan for "we are having too many problems with the supplier meeting schedule/suppliers cost/quality/failure rate so we are moving in a different direction during next spiral development."

This leads me to believe that the statement provided regarding the warping issue being solved, does not have buy in across the board that it will stop the issue in years to come. These pieces really concern me due to cost. Trade in or private sale will be effected later in life if you try to get rid of the vehicle with warped or no new pieces. And if you choose to replace them, they are a sharp dagger to the wallet (piece above glove box very prone to warping is almost $600).

I know GM had to dump the CF insert in the ZL1 hood because they could not get acceptable quality and scheduling from their supplier last year. Many ordered it, but only the first 150 or so got it, then GM placed it on indefinite hold. Last I knew the 2013's did not have it available either.

There are soooooo many options when it comes to wrapping that they could replace it with just about anything and it could be fixed. The best you can hope for is something light weight!

I'm one of those guys that doesn't care for the spy shots and it upsets me mainly because I wanted to trade my 2011 overland in on and SRT8.

I'm still hoping the final production model will be sexier than what I have imagined it to be from the spy shots. If not I will place an order with BMW for the last V8 E92.

seems to me the 14' SRT is pretty much unchanged except for the grille, headlights and rear brow. The headlamps will be the thing i wanna see the most.
