Re: who is going to buy it?

It seems like all the people who didn't own an WK SRT are the majority of people who are tutting the new WK2 SRT8's horn. It may have a pretty interior and have all the do-dads and gizmo's, but until they make it more aggressive, they've lost my vote. Like I said, happy towing! As if us real SRT peeps really ever needed that crap. Go buy a truck! I bet my paycheck that the 3 year facelift will bring some more aggressive styling because all the SRT engineers will see that the new WK2 SRT won't be getting all the ooooo's and ahhhh's that the WK SRT did. Just wait, I'm sure they've already taken some notes on the distain on these forums for it's pu$$ified look.

I'm one of those "tooting" the new WK2's horn who has never owned one before. I liked the WK SRT8, too, but it had terrible rear legroom, didn't have many advanced features, etc. The WK2 is plenty aggressive for me and the majority of people out there. It's the same people that made the WK that made the WK2. I think they know what they're doing. And the new "gizmos" are what makes that car an awesome combination of modern technology, raw speed and power, and able to fit a couple of kids in the back!

Re: who is going to buy it?

I see your point. It has more leg room, but the SRT is the Viper of the Jeep world and when was the Viper worried about leg room? If it fits, it ships! Hahaha! I could care less who's in the rear of the Jeep I didn't buy it to tote the kids at 100+, and if you did, then you should get your head checked out :O. I think the WK2 SRT will be for those average everyday " I have a powerful SUV with class " people, and that it will lose some of the deep rooted racing folks. Don't get me wrong, it is nice, but so is a Chevy Tahoe; doesn't mean I want one.

Re: who is going to buy it?

If you're so into racing I would think you should want a Viper or a Corvette. You're only real complaint seems to be the aggressive or lack of aggressive "looks" of the new WK2 SRT8 because it's got better speed and handling than the old one. So basing it on looks is just as pvssy as the rest of us.

I won't be towing anyway but want to be able to should I ever need to.

Re: who is going to buy it?

I am a military veteran. Chrysler was specific that all SRT models (1st gen) are not included in any discount incentives, including military. Again, early introduction will be at MSRP, with no discounting. Playing the wait game (late model year, or following model year) will most likely yield slightly better price points. Follow the trend with the WK SRT8's. Availability was better, price points came down. Just my experience and opinion.

Re: who is going to buy it?

I was afraid that after buying my WK2 Overland I would regret it after seeing the SRT8, luckily that didn't happen. I'm sure it will be a much better overall vehicle than the WK SRT but the one thing I liked about my '06 SRT was the size, it felt nimble and small compared to driving my WK2. I think I will wait and get an older Viper for fun and enjoy the ride in my WK2 Overland for awhile.

My kids love my Jeep and since they are growing they need more leg room. The backseat of the WK is non-existent with the front seats back.
Looks like it is time for a WK SRT8.

You want to hear all my bitches...... ok! It's less aggressive than the previous model, which is a step back. It gained HP, but offset that by getting fatter, even if it is underated. It used to be the baddest thing in the SRT line-up and now it takes a seat in the back of the bus. Front end looks great, but what the F#$k happened to the rear? Did they chump-up on funds and slap a Overland 5.7 bumper on there? Interior looks great, but I really didn't see the problem with the WK SRT interior. So what the dash wasn't leather, it's not like slept on the damn thing. Basically SRT got away from the Baddest SUV on the planet mentality and catered to all the practical people, but gave an ok front end and 6.4 HEMI and called it an SRT. Oh and those fu#$ing rims blow too! Get the interior redone on the WK SRT and stick a cam in it and you'll be owning WK2 SRT's on the regular. I know how I felt when I saw the WK SRT at the autoshow in 05 and I have none of the same feelings here, and I grew up around performance cars all my life, so I'd like to think I have an eye for something that'll turn heads, and this WK2 isn't gonna get the same head snapping looks. I love cars that distance themselves from the regular, that's what makes them special and eventually classics. This one will not do that until maybe they see the gripes and change it during the 3rd year face lift. Maybe I'll consider it then.

I would say your opinion is a good thing for the original WK SRT8 standing the test of time, so that's cool.

Re: who is going to buy it?

I feel for the Jeep designers. You can’t please everyone. I am pretty happy with the new design and think they are going in the right direction.

With no disrespect to those who like the more aggressive original, I prefer the new design because it is not so head-snapping. I like the fact that it is pretty subtle, although not quite as subtle as I had hoped. I want something that looks nice, is low-key, and goes. This car won’t ever pass for a sleeper, but it is reasonably subtle and goes. I just need to confirm: 1) if I can swap the hood for a standard hood without harming performance or reliability; and 2) if I can dye the white SRT logos on the seats so they aren’t quite so noticeable

I am pretty sure I will be a buyer if I can avoid getting gouged on price and hopefully get affiliate pricing. As a matter of principle I won’t buy something where people try to gouge, or “persuade” you with claims of limited supply, whether true or not.

I’ve talked with two dealers. One thought the car was due in November/December and the other is non-responsive so far. Need to point them to this forum for better info!
