Re: WK2 Jeep SRT8 discussion thread

I have owned my fair share of high performance, high end and luxury cars over the years and just recently purchased a new blk/blk WK2 Overland. I must say really do love this unit.

After looking in depth at all the info on the new WK2 SRT-8 I can find on the net, I basically have just one major reservation which is keeping me from considering buying one of these.

I love the style seats.. but absolutely hate the fact that the seats do not have 100% leather seating surfaces available. This is a serious deal breaker for me as I like everything else about the SRT-8.

Am I the only one who does not care for a seating surface that is not 100% leather?

Re: WK2 Jeep SRT8 discussion thread

Tony007, first off, THANK YOU for your opinion on the WK2 Overland, it's good to hear from current 2011 owners! As for the seats, after owning several sets of suede/alcantara/faux type seats, I can honestly say I REALLY LOVE these seats. I have the same ones in my Charger SRT8 (basically) - leather with the suede inserts. It REALLY GRIPS YOU and you don't slide AT ALL. Plus, you don't get any hotter than in any other seat really. I usually love leather seats like we got in my wife's 4runner aftermarket (cuz it was le$$), and while they don't grip me, I do love leather seats. I occasionally will sweat and skin will stick to them but it's not a big deal. So I think the SRT8 seats have the best of both world!! Just my $0.02...

Suede
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Suede is a type of leather with a napped finish. However, it can also refer to a similar napped or brushed finish on many kinds of fabrics.

Oh, so is the "suede" in the SRT8 2012 Jeep not real leather suede then?

Re: WK2 Jeep SRT8 discussion thread

Alcantra/suede has become all the rage with top end high performance vehicles. Look at the $130,000+ Porsche GT3's, the more you spend the more alcantra they use......

I like it, for the most part, as long as it's a quality tanning that doesn't pill or leach. The last thing I need is for my linen sports jacket to get black streaks on the way to the club

Re: WK2 Jeep SRT8 discussion thread

Wk2 Srt8 with 6.4L powerplant for $43k base price?

No brainer.

Soft suede leather to coddle your doodads, while simultaneouslty drawing cool air through one's nether regions via the perforations?

Priceless.

Priceless is right. Just had a 12 hour drive with the feature in my Enclave. It's like some pretty lady gently blowing on the grundle area.
Prevents Swampass like nothing else I've seen.
That and heated steering wheel are enough for me to buy the WK2SRT8.

Re: WK2 Jeep SRT8 discussion thread

I really do not care for suede either I would much rather slide around in the seat then be hugged even on a track. It isn't a deal breaker for me as everything can be changed. I hate the carbon fiber trim as I am not a fan of black on black, but I know I can change it to overland wood trim if I dislike it in person. I am sure there will be plenty of overland owners that would swap with me too.

^Yes sir, done deal here on the Overland Wood for SRT8 Carbon Fiber trim swap out. I'll even swap out for your SRT8 steering wheel and seats?

Just say so. Happy to do it. Look forward to hearing from you. You know where to find me. Lemme know when you're ready. Pretty please.

Re: WK2 Jeep SRT8 discussion thread

After sitting in an overland and admiring the wood grain, then seeing the carbon fiber pieces in the WK8, I'm of the opinion the wood grain would look better, BUT the CF is much more racier.. I just hope it doesn't look fake.. I know it's "real" but I want it to look REAL. There's too much CF interior trim kits out there and it better not look like any of those!!
