Discuss the WK2 SRT8 Jeep here---

Recently some info and movement has been going on with the WK2 SRT8. Several SRT engineers have contacted current owners questioning them about wants/needs for a new Jeep SRT8. We will use this thread to discuss the WK2 SRT8 Jeep news, rumors etc.

All members...please post your wants, needs, wishes for the WK2 Jeep SRT here! This is not just for SRT owners! Everyone please respond!!!!!!!!!!!

I respectfully disagree with your last point.
I see PLENTY of Cayenne Turbo/Supercharged Rovers/X6M's et'all on the beaches over here. Tip-toe air suspension gives them the temporary height adjustment to get over the rutted tracks to get onto the hard beach where it's smooth sailing :) Current SRT cannot do that..... would be possible even if they were only to have a removable lower section to the airdam if not height adjustable air suspension..
I for one need all the power I can get (never driven anything yet that's had enough grunt::) AND I want to tow and go on the beach with it.

I'm thinking the air ride suspension they are putting in will accommodate that wish for you anyhow.
And for towing, our SRT's now can pull way over the 3500 lb limit. The reason that limit is on there is due to a parking pin that can only support that much additional weight on a hill w/o the parking brake. There is a member on the RED board that towed 9,000 lbs with his SRT...I have pics to prove it. He towed it long distance to and had no issues.

I'd like to see a factory hitch that has a hide-a-hitch style. In order to keep the center exhaust, it should have two female hitch spots on both sides of the exhaust, but tucked at least 6" behind the bumper, where you insert a "Y" shaped hitch into the 2 female position. It could be totally hidden this way.

Peter I like ur list of things to add but wouldn't that increase the price of the SRT8 sky high ... especially with the adjustable setting for driving conditions ... the SRT8 kicks ass because of the fact that it's toe to toe with the competitors when it comes to power but wins when it comes to price and if they add all the nice neat features I think that's going to do nothing but make it a luxury car that most of the current SRT8 owners would not consider due to the price range ...

I have to agree. Price is one of the biggest, if not the biggest advantage of the SRT8 compared to the luxery SUV's. I know it'd be nice to have all of those extras, but if you want them, just go buy the Porsche, or Audi, or BMW, or Mercedes.

It's not like the engineers are sitting around thinking, well we could have added all that fun stuff in there, but we didn't feel like it. They didn't 'cause their budget wouldn't allow. The WK2 did get a bigger budget, so maybe (if produced) the SRT8 would as well, but they may lose buyers if the price is up there with the 'luxery' brands.

What would you rather have, an $80,000 Jeep, or an $80,000 Porsche, LOL.

Exactly Matt.
The Jeep still needs to be built to a price while trying to keep as many desirable features as possible within that constraint. For me to buy another Jeep it needs to offer features that the "premium" brands offer but at a substantially lower initial outlay.
QuickOne, thanks for the reply mate :)
I understand they can drag more weight, but there is an issue of legality (here in Oz anyway). The manufacturer needs to state the vehicle can tow XXXX amount or no insurance company will ever pay a claim..... not desirable.
I think you're asking for badly burned hands with centre exhausts and a "hideaway" style hitch. After an hours towing your trailer coupling and chains etc would be scalding hot!

It ridiculous to tow with a sport truck anyway, so who cares. You wanna tow, buy a pickup. SRTs aren't designed to tow. Did the Ram SRT10 have a tow hitch? Don't think so.

The 6.1/6.4 are tuned more for higher rpms, so they're not ideal for towing where low rpm torque reigns supreme.

Ridiculous? Really? I think many would disagree...... Do you own a jet ski, a trail bike? Do you have a plot of land where you may want to tow your ride-on mower on the weekend? To you want to tow your box trailer to pick up a large item from Ikea?
The fact is if Jeep made the things even slightly less useless, they'd sell more. Which, in essence, is what Jeep needs.

The answer to all of those is no. I live in the city, not on a farm or ranch.

To answer the other guys, I had a 300C SRT8 before the Jeep. It was slower, because it just lit up its tires. Trust me, the AWD is the reason many GCSRT8 owners have them. It has nothing to do with the fact that its an SUV. If any of the other SRT8s had AWD, the Jeeps sales would be even smaller then it already is.

Well I live in the city too but lead an active lifestyle I guess ;)
I bet my balls there's at least three times as many people (than your AWD reasoning) who WOULD have bought one if they were generally more usable. But anyway, seems I'm repeating myself here and you're stuck in your way of thinking, and so be it.

#57 ·
sorry another question.. if i decide to purchase a 2010 it will probably have to be special ordered because i dont want a sunroof and all the ones i have seen come fully loaded ( i have to keep the price within my means and i dont like sunroofs)..production as stated in this site is may 2010 for new model.. what do you think is the latest i can order a 2010..thanks rob

#58 ·
you can no longer order the 2010....so you'd have to buy one from dealer inventory. There has been no definite yes or no on the 2012 SRT....but there will be for sure NO 2011 SRT

No pics or specs at this time, just confirmation that it is on the schedule. I have known for several yeaars that a 2nd Gen Jeep SRT8 was in the works, as it was in the planning stages when they first started work on the 1st gen WK. What I didn't know was if things got screwed up/cancelled due to the Chrysler BK/Fiat scenarios. Documents that have recently come my way have confirmed that the 2nd Gen is alive and well.

I'll have a little more info soon, such as how many model years are planned and even the estimated build quantities. While the WK2 SRT is currently on the schedule, and more than likely will be built, things such as a high spike in fuel prices or economic conditions could alter the plans. But, for years people have predicted the demise of performance vehicles like the SRT models, yet they still live on and have survived tough economic situations as well has record fuel prices.

:w00t:Thanks Milous!
I didn't doubt it when you were hinting to it months ago! Just show us some spy shots already. Those papers with schedule aren't just filled with words. Show us the goods!!!
