Re: WK2 Jeep SRT8 discussion thread

It's an efficiency thing. Engines are basically air pumps and not all are created equal (not a slant on the Mopar engine but it's an aging design now).
I wouldn't realistically expect over 500hp without forced induction on the 6.4. The new 5.0L Fords are supercharged to make that kind of power.
Anyway, this is a want thread and I think the OP would like to keep it concise, if we want to discuss this stuff another thread should be made.

May as well throw in the 3.8l 500hp/500tq 911 motor (although they cheated with boost, lol).

I'm pretty sure the 6.4 are rated right around the 500 mark.

Re: WK2 Jeep SRT8 discussion thread

How about if they took the VW's V-10 diesel as an option? tons of torque.

Re: WK2 Jeep SRT8 discussion thread

I'd definetly like the forced induction available from Mopar. Can't be dropping $8k all at once, so working it into the financing would be way better.

And add on more aggressive styling to go with it. Hood scoops, fender vents, rear wing, big ass flared fenders. You know, all the crap I like sticking on, except molded in as part of the body parts.

Re: WK2 Jeep SRT8 discussion thread

OMG -- this thread is like therapy. Strangely I wish I made this post before the SRT Engineer called me last week to ask some questions!! Damn!

1) adjustable driving settings (luxury, normal, sport, track) like Ferrari has on their Manetto knob. This changes several factors such as suspension, traction control, gear change speed, performance to pre-determined settings. Of course, allow these settings to be 'tuned'

2) valet mode --> push a button and it's 350hp maybe 1st & 2nd gear only to 3500 rpm. Like limp mode only on demand!

3) Upgrade MyGIG to use iTunes synchronization. Forget the USB crap -- let MyGIG sync with my iTunes just like an Apple TV does and lose the iPod dongle. Damn!

4) better aerodynamics -- close the body gaps, door gaps, streamline the body somewhat (do something about the roof rails please). Perhaps work an under-carriage tray? Along with this, consolidate the antenna situation >> mine has 3 -- a standard whip, Sirius Radio & Sirius TV.

5) Upgrade option packages for performance
a) upgraded Brembo brakes + better sway links + non run-flat tires
b) forged 392
c) 2wd option
d) true limited slip diffs
e) coil-over shocks

6) Sunroof delete option

7) Use more composite materials to lower the weight (also increases price).

8) At least one more interior color choice or what about some options for the inserts? I'd love deviating stitching on Porsches . . .

9) Serialized Plaques -- they build roughly 3000 of these per year, why not number them!
9a) Special Editions -- commemorate something!?

10) Add a 2nd wheel choice or finish.

11) MAKE IT IN WHITE!

12) (as said before) Add a 6th gear?

Some things I don't want to see changed:
1) Center exit exhaust tips -- nice touch.
2) It's a good Sleeper
3) 20" rims
4) focus on all out badass performance

Whew...I'm done.

So you wouldn't want 22 inch rims then? I would!

Not high on my list -- if someone does make some nice 22s, I could be swayed. It's not a must-have, it's a nice-to-have I guess.

Re: WK2 Jeep SRT8 discussion thread

What I mean is many of the high end Euro sport SUV's now run 22's either standard or as an option.
With the physical size of the WK and WKII, I see them being able to pull off running standard 22's with ease.

As long as we're not running some silly low profile tires that look like a rubber band stretched around a rim. I like some 'meat' on my tires.

Re: WK2 Jeep SRT8 discussion thread

22's look too big IMO for a street tuned jeep that you want to use some real power with ...

Nice Post Peter...I agreed with most...And added some bold points of my own.

Since we have a good running list, there should be a poll so people could select the items important to them. This would show what was more popular for ideas that should be focused on.

In SRT's defense...IT is Street Racing Technology. If you offroad, you don't need the power to do 165 mph. It's low to the ground for a reason. It's got street tires for a reason. I hope they try to keep that focus for the SRT.
Overland should have the options you are looking for. Just not the SRT.
