You guessed it...Another Snow tire question

Will 285/50/20 fit the stock SRT wheel?

I am planning on ordering 22" SRT reps in the spring and turning my stock srt wheels into my winter set. I really dont want to pay for the Pirelli All Season tires so I was looking at the Blizzaks. The closest size I could find are 285/50/20.

Any input would be appreciated.

Thanks
Jeff

I think the wheel width range for the 285/50/20's is 8" to 10". The 10" SRT OEM wheels are at the upper end of the recommended wheel width for these tires & I'd be concerned about not having enough tire shoulder width to prevent damage to the wheels in the event the tires get bumped from the side. I suggest you check with a tire expert/store first to get their advice.

I'm using 10" rims for winter wheels & decided to go with Pirelli Scorpion Snow & Ice tires, the same size as stock - 295/45/20.

Are you happy with the Pirelli snow and ice?

We haven't had enough snow yet to really test them, but so far I've been very happy with the ride.

I have already ordered the Blizzaks (same size) and should have mine by the weekend. I will let you know my thoughts when I have them on the Jeep.

Re: You guessed it...Another Snow tire question

Blizzacks + snow mode =

Was up in northern Michigan over the holiday and they got about 3 inches of snow, when we hit the roads, all the back roads were covered, most people were going way too slow for even snow covered roads.

The SRT with blizzacks and in snow mode did great, tried a few times to see if I could get a spin when no one was around and you really had to push into it. Jeep felt very steady, even with changes lanes on the freeway and driving in completely snow covered lanes - no issues, it grabbed and wouldn't break loose. First time to really have it out in crap weather and when we got home it was more white than black... a good car wash is on the to list for today!

Bottomline: Blizzack - 255/55/R20 on 20x9 rims - seem to work well, and snow mode keeps things between the lines.

So far, luckily we still don't have a lot of snow, but I did drive on some roads yesterday that were covered in ice. I intentionally slammed on the brakes and was very impressed with the way the Pirelli's stopped the Jeep. If they handle the snow as good as the ice, I'll be very happy.

Re: You guessed it...Another Snow tire question

I just bought a set of SRT replicas (20 x 9) in black from stockwheelsolutions

I am wrapping them with Pirelli Scorpion Snow/Ice as well. I don't get mine until Dec 10-12 area so I'll post a review when I get them.

Those wheels you linked are 34mm offset. IIRC the stock wheels are +50mm (I've seen some report +56mm, but not sure that is right)

Did those wheels work for you? I'm looking for a winter set myself and want to know how your setup works.

Re: You guessed it...Another Snow tire question

Ignore my previous post. Didn't see they were 20x9.. 34mm makes sense.

Re: You guessed it...Another Snow tire question

I bought a set of WK1 repros from BlackOps 20x10 and am running Nokian Hakkapeliitta 7s (Studded) 265/50/20. I love them and would never get anything but these in the future
