Well I have to say after seeing the Jeep in person I like it but I'm really into the new 300 You all really have to see one in person and see the fine craftsmanship of everything.
IMO I already have a in your face WTF is that Rig that I absolutely love to death that once paid off will be a great classic to park and keep. Don't get me wrong they did a great Job with the Jeep but it's just not my style I like the old body style a lot better. The 300 SRT was by far most everyone I talked to favorite for the 2012 lineup
I Talked to Ralph Gilles yesturday I mentioned a lot of people where unhappy with the wheels his answer was " The tooling is done and everyone will dislike something whether it be the body styling or the wheels but overall they are quite pleased with it overall look and they feel it will be a great seller".
I also talked to the CEO of Mopar and they want to be involved with the community more so I hope they will be contacting me to see what kind of input we may have here on the forums for future development parts and accessories.
I also talked to 2 of the SRT Engineers and let me say these guys are top notch!!! We talked for like an hour and I asked them a lot of questions about future stuff like the Durange SRT the answer was "No Comment but it's a great platform"
I also asked about the selling price of the Jeep and the answer was "No Comment"
Possibility of doing a Supercharger or turbo on an SRT " We have looked into it plenty it just has to make sense as far as drivability and longevity and also profitability"
What about the production Number of the Jeep "No Comment" But I promised not to say the next line LOl.
The overall experience was awesome got to meet all the important people question them and get some great schwag while I was their. My bottom line is I'm so into the 300SRT I really stopped looking at the Jeep once they pulled it out Just couldn't get over it. Like I said above the Jeep is just not my style little busy in the front for me while the 300 is sooo clean it's ridicules almost reminded me of my current jeep. Their are some 300 SRT things I don't really car for like the headlights and grill but as a total package it's quite nice inside and out and like Ralph said to me about the jeep it will grow on people. I tried to fall in love with the Jeep guys you all know I love the Jeep but IMO looks almost like more work went into the front and no where else I kind of wished the side skirts where a little different to match the front's busyness and the tail is good but the loss of the center exhaust and the lack of design to match the front again kinda had me scratching my head like it needed something else. I do like all the individual componets and new features over the old Jeep like the hood the Led's in the front the carbon on the inside the paddle shifters. I put my hand up and covered the front of the New Jeep and it looks just like the Jeep that we have been seeing for a while now. I know I had mentioned this to Scott and he said our rigs are a front bumper side skirts and rear bumper and he couldn't be more right but I guess I just like the current gens lines more as an overall truck and really never fell in love with the 2011's lines to start with too bubbly for my taste. Not to mention I felt like the truck was huge I meet up with Till outside during the show and I could not believe how small his rig looked after being inside with the new one. I like the small well not really but compared to the 2012 the old jeep is I almost felt like it was a BMW or something.
Times change and so do we with that said I think they Chrysler Corp is keeping up with times and moving in the right direction keeping the customer involved and watching the forums for what we all want and ask for but I'll pass on ever owning the new Jeep and most likely be buying a New 300 SRT used after someone else takes the first hit on depreciation paying of my Jeep and keeping it.
I want to thank the Drive SRT team for the invite had a great time.
