By far the hottest hood out there now....Hood looks awesome!

Not knowing anything about the aftermarket hoods it's nice to read that the fitment is as great a quality as it is. Dave, I saw you posted a few things regarding adjustments with yours... I guess that it takes some minor tweaking to get it adjusted right. Chad, as usual your right there taking care of the customers questions, way to go... your like the godfather of Chrysler products!
That's why I support BlackOps, they care about the customer even after the product is delivered!

Re: The Anti-Venom List!!!

yes......even the stock hood takes adjustment. First...remove the grill so you csn shoot the hood and pop open at will. If the hinge isnt perfectly center...it will push the hood side to side....then you have to adjust the knobs one at a time. get one side perfect and do the other. It takes time and two people.

exactly, you start with the hinge, then use the bump stops to push the corners up and create tension.

Chad is awesome, he will spend time on the phone explaining it to you. Even when you're doing it wrong.... ask me how i know.

Re: The Anti-Venom List!!!

First of all, any aftermarket hood should be installed by professionals (body shop), unless you have experience and understand the process for adjustments.
Second, we need pictures of all sides, corners, bump stops and hindges. So it can be determined where the issue may be.
Steps:
- I always use a sharpie to mark my oe hood bolt location on the hindge. This is your reference point and good to have if you ever have to put the oe hood back on.
- important, when testing fitment, use both hands and close hood very slowly. Watching your perimeter for points where it may hit if not aligned. For adjusting, do not tighten bolts till at perfect fitment. Durin the process, lightly tighten for some give. Tighten slightly more than hand tight.
- I always take bump stops out to align, because bump stops can change angle of fitment. I lay a rag or towel flat on each front wide to protect from hitting. Again holding and carefully closing will stop you from damaging any parts. Once the hood is aligned at all sides and corners, then put bump stops back for height adjustment for the front corners.
- aligned, both drivers/pax back corners must be even with top corner of fenders. Drivers/pax side gaps should be even with one another. Front corners and center should be even.
- if there is any part off, you have a number of ways to adjust. The key to adjustments are from both mounting points of the hindge. Using the marked oe location will help you in aligning, knowing which direction you have to adjust from marked location.
- the other adjustment is moving the locking mechanism if the hood sits to high or too low at center. Keeping in mind once bump stops are adjusted at proper height, will raise the front corners and center. Again, the bump stops and locking mechanism are your way for adjusting proper height and locking down the hood.
- for lifting corners, I found the adjustments are made at the back hindge. Depending on which side is lifted, you have to push the backSIDE of the hood inwards, holding the hindge to allow to push. This will slightly bow the hood and allow the front corner to lower. Keep in mind that this may also change the alignment, so other adjustments will have to be made. This is why we recommend a professional installing. It can be tedious at times, but you need to follow what adjustments your making and understand how all of it is affecting the fitment.
- IT'S ALL TRIAL AND ERROR!!!!!! Better to have a friend help for another helping hands, different set of eyes and fitment adjustment opinions.

Hope this helps? Let me know if you have anymore questions?
Good luck!
Jimmy

Re: The Anti-Venom List!!!

I agree with Jimmy,

it took us like 45 minutes of messing with the hinges, latch and bump stops to get it to fit right. then when we switched with the OE hood, it was worse! haha.

it just takes lot of messing around with it, this is something ANY hood will need.

Lmao!!! Yeah I learned the hard way too, not marking my oe location the first time. That's why we're here to stop others from having the same issue.

If you think the hood is hard, try doing a decklid that is 90 angle shape. Man!!!! Now that is a mf'er pita!!!!!!
Thanks bro!

Re: The Anti-Venom List!!!

get the phone number from the trueforged site...call Steve....Ive called 2x and spoke to him 2x. Did you order a special finish maybe or a mesh that was out of stock. I know I wanted the slats...but he said it would be a couple weeks before he had them...then they would have to go to powdercoat...so another week on top of that.

Re: The Anti-Venom List!!!

Ok! The pix are the key right now to determine what the issue maybe. I'm still trying to understand why the seal had to be removed. If the seal was in the way, then the latch mech should be at it's highest point. You should put the seal back in and readjust everything. Every point of contact determines how the hood will fit. Not to say that you don't know what your doing, but motorcycles are not the same as far as fitment. I know you know that. Like I said, it's all trial and error. You really have to follow how your adjustments and how they are affecting fitment. If not, you'll always be guessing. Pushing the hood inwards at the hindge will cause the hood front corner to flatten out a bit. I can't say this enough, "all adjustments affect one another, so you must follow how each changes and determine what needs to be done".
As far as weave not flowing right, WE NEED PIX. I'm sure you can look at others threads to see how their weave looks. Keep us posted.

Re: The Anti-Venom List!!!

well at first when i tried to install mine, i thought the seal was hitting... it was actually that the hinge wasn't positioned correctly...

what kind of shop was the hood installed at? a body shop?

Re: The Anti-Venom List!!!

O.K. We just talked I think we are getting somewhere Dave had no time with the Shootout in Orlando this weekend I know he only had a little over an hour or so Friday to play with it so I just gave him a quick run down and the next post by him should be everything worked out perfectly!! Now that he has time to play around with it I think It will fall right into place. I'm looking forward to the fit and finish I know we worked at least one or two things out in a 30 min conversation that may have been overlooked and could possibly help him out a bit.
Hit me up if you get stuck any more Dave I'm here for ya bud!!
