What kind of wood?

What kind of wood, or what is the name of wood used in the 2005 GC Limited? Is it burl wood?

I'm replacing my leather steering wheel with a wood/leather one and was trying to match up the wood. I think it's simulating dark burlwood.

Re: What kind of wood?

The wood used in the limited is not burlwood (or even fake burlwood). Burlwood is used in the overland. The wood on the overland wheel doesn't match the wood in the limiteds.

I'm honestly not sure what kind of wood the limited is mocking. It's almost like a mix of burlwood and zebrano.

I think it is easiest to see the difference on the wood panels on the doors.

In the brochure for 2005 it states the wood is Sycamore in the Limited although I believe it's fake plastic imitation.

Yeah it is definitely fake. I do believe the wood in the overlands is real though.

Re: What kind of wood?

Jeep carefully words their advertising. It is in their best interest that you think the Overland has real wood, justifying a higher price based on ego gratification. I have had to replace a broken door panel, and the "wood" was plastic through and through. I have taken this up with the Dealer, who tried to appear very surprised, and Jeep corporate, who said "they were not interested in pursuing that line of inquiry, that I would have to resolve the issue with the dealer."

Re: What kind of wood?

The Overland DOES have real wood. I broke a piece of mine when installing my cell phone holder. It is real in the Overland kids... Let me search for the picture to back this up.
