Clunking when accelerating Is this normal?

Sometimes when I let off the gas, like when coming up behind a slow moving car and then accelerate I feel a mild clunking coming from the middle of the vehicle. Everything seems ok otherwise and it doesn't do it all the time. I was told this is normal for 4wd/all wheel drive vehicles, but I wanted to see if you guys encounter the same issue before I take it in to the dealer.:(
I have QT1 4wd btw.thanks

Re: Clunking when accelerating Is this normal?

I get that all the time with my stop and go commute. I believe its the transmission being in 1st gear (the only gear i ever notice that noise in)... now i cant really say why its doing it but i am pretty sure that's what it is. Mines done it since i have had it, other jeeps that my family has owned since 93 (ZJ WJ) models all did it. Never had a trans fail on a jeep yet. You can take it in if you would like to make ya feel better and see what they say as long as its under warranty.

They're probably going to tell you its backlash in the gears. Backlash is normal in gears, just not too much. It doesn't hurt to go to the dealer and duplicate it for them.
