Selling

What kind of market is there right now for private party selling? I decided I will put this up for sale, but am wondering if I should buy the vehicle I want (Cadillac CTS-V) first, then sell it, or just sell it then buy the car. Problem is, if I sell the Jeep first, then I will be rushed to buy something and there's not a whole lot of them out there and I am stuck on that one. However, if I hang on to the Jeep and it takes 3 months to sell, then I have 2 or 3 big payments on the new car.

so, if anybody wants an 05 Hemi 4x4 with 55k miles :D (he he, this isn't a for sale ad, but you never know :) )

Re: Selling

Nobody has any idea or experience selling Jeeps (or cars in general) these days?

Re: Selling

if you are going to buy a new car the dealer will most likely give you a great deal on your trade in. i always prefer to do that because then you dont have do deal with the hassle of selling it on your own.

Re: Selling

have you done the initial check ?

- Check kbb.com and nada.com for the value of what ur car is worth
- Check cars.com and craigslist for local listings to see what it is actually being sold for
- Cars are being sold in general just depends if it is demanded in ur area

post some pix of the ride?

Yeah, I have a good idea of the value of both respective vehicles, but I have no idea the true selling dollar amounts and time it's taking these days. Naturally, a lot depends on the vehicle in question, but from what I understand, Grand Cherokees move relatively quickly under normal circumstances. However, it is really hard to gauge only knowing dealers' sales, as private party makes it more difficult 'cause people generally do not have that sort of cash and right now, a 2005 is considered 'used used' as far as financing rates go (for instance, a 2006 you can get 6% for 72 months, but a 2005 is 8% and only 60 months); it's right at the break point.

I don't want to get in a situation of having two car payments and having to give the jeep away...I've only gotten one trade in amount from carmax (yuck that place) and it was insulting...not sure how the other dealers are. I know I got bleeped on my GTO trading it in, but that was only cause it was getting up there in miles and needed obvious things, such as tires.

Problem (once again) with what I want is they are semi-hard to find and most of them are private party...so, trying to get some research done first. I am almost done with the pre approval part with my credit union though, so that is going to dicate a lot.

As for pics, here is the only one I have online right now (not very good):

Re: Selling

are u buying new or used caddy ?

Matt is right when it comes to buying new cars especially with all the cash incentives and bonuses and discounts you can grab one for a good price while getting rid of urs for a good selling price as well

Re: Selling

It would have to be used, as I don't want to spend $65k for a new one :) noticed the '06's are going for around $25k and my limit...already lost too much money on my GTO and now this [cause I bought at dealer and got reamed on trade]

Re: Selling

dang that sucks ... IMHO if I was in u I would post the for sale signs to what I think is fair and play the waiting game ... no need to rush it as your jeep rides just fine ...

quick question what color is ur jeep? if you got pix post some :D

Re: Selling

You may have missed the pic [edit] above :) It's silver...It has just a hair over 55k and probably ever option (limited 4x4) except rear dvd and thought maybe $18-18.5k would be a fair price?

edit - this is what I'm looking at (random pic off net), fwiw:

Re: Selling

I think 14000 is about what its worth just from looking online. In Connecticut 2008s with around 35-40,000 miles are going for 18000 all day.
