Diablosport Question

Looking into getting a diablosport tuner because they are the only ones to support the 2010 grand cherokee 5.7. Jeep recommends 89 octane but the tune diablosport has is 87 or 91 octane. Wont i lose power by installing the tune? I dont want to run premium (i know it will give most power).

Re: Diablosport Question

It will feel a bit sluggish if you use the 87 Tune. I use use the 91 Tune and fill up with 89 Octane. There's a Gas Station near me that has 91, but I choose not to fill up from there.

Re: Diablosport Question

I would only run premium in the hemi, esp you have a brand new ride... lowers grades from what i hear might contain some ethanol in it. and there is not point of getting the tuner for more power if your not gonna run premium gas..
But if im right i think there is an economy tune... check to see what gas you can run with that...

Re: Diablosport Question

the predator may be different for the 2010 model but for my 06, it didn't have 87 tune as an option. there was 89, 91, or 93. i loaded the 91 because i thought that's what the local stations had then i found out they had 93. huge difference in the tunes. cmr is on the way

Thats a no-no.

^X2!... Don't run a lower octane than what it is tuned for. Your increasing your risk of knock and detonation....engine destruction!

and I bet your knock sensors are actually making it slower as they are now telling your PCM to pull timing and throttle position.

With the increased octane tune you are able to run more timing and less fuel, which = Faster.

Oh SH*T! I will change it tomorrow then to 93 Octane! Thanks for letting me know! I still have half a tank and I'm going to fill up with 93 Oct when I get near empty!

Re: Diablosport Question

93 Tune all the way. My 5.7 on the 93 tune is a complete kick in the pants compared to stock trim and I'm sure it'll be even better when I put on a CAI and exhaust. Just remember that the longer you go cheap with your gas on any kinda tune, the more expensive it'll be later when you're replacing engine components if not the whole thing.

Re: Diablosport Question

My '09 Ram 5.7L is recommended for 89 octane, but will run on 87. My Diablosport Predator for it only has an 87 tune as well. Since I don't want to pay for 93 octane on that truck (52K miles in the last 14 months heh) because it doesn't get any better mileage with the higher tune and octane just power, I run the 87 tune with 89 octane, and get decent mileage and less torque management along with faster throttle response.

Re: Diablosport Question

i bought my predator through a local performance shop. when they installed it, i had a full tank of 89. they loaded the 91 performance tune. i asked about knock retard and detonation. the owner told me you can always run 2 octane numbers lower without any problems. you may not get 100% of the performance but it won't damage the engine in anyway. thats why you can run 87 on the hemi but jeep recommends 89.
